I might be biased about the Piazzo because I was born in Biella, though I left for more than 25 years.
Why? Because I think it is the most beautiful part of Biella. It has kept all its medieval charme and mistery that many other "Borgo" of Italy have lost, a magic allure that is missing in Biella Piano.
Every single street and corner is filled with history and legends: the cobled roads, the bridge you cross to enter Piazzo, with breathtaking view, the big arch, the small churches ranging from XI to XVII century, the wooden house which is the oldest in Biella just next to the restaurant/bookstore La Civetta, the Cisterna Square, Ferrero Palace, Gromo Losa Palace and its amazing Italian gardens and impressive views on the morenic hill of Serra, the astonishing Palazzo Lamarmora, with a nearby playground (in case your kids need some fun time too).
So much to see and feel....
Or just a simple walk to enjoy excellent food - some of the best restaurants in Biella are there - or just an ice cream (try the Cremeria in Piazza Cisterna) in a very very romantic and intimate atmosphere, under medieval portico ( see pics). Enjoy.

Walked to the Piazzo.. enjoying the evening.. beware of mosquitoes 😅
Prices are fair (cheaper than Brindisi) suitable for dinner, a drink, a gelato or just have a walk ..
The place has ancient buildings.. we visited a 15th century chapel that is always opened ..

Lovely old town which can be enjoyed without hoards of fellow travellers. Tricky cobbles if you're mobility challenged ...

This is the old part of Biella, which lies on the top of an hill and it is just five minutes away from Bella city centre. It is easily accessible by taking the characteristic ''Funiculare''. Once you get there the view of the mountains is stunning and there is also plenty to visit: the ancient churches, the wonderful Piazza Cisterna, Palazzo Lamarmora, Palazzo Ferrero and Palazzo Gromo Losa, with its breath-taking gardens. Finally feel free to just walk around having an ice cream in Piazza Cisterna or having an aperitivo in one of the bars there.

Crowning a hill overlooking the city, it is accessible by a funicular lift or by driving around behind the hill and hiking up. The square is pretty classical 1500-1600's Italy with nice views, old buildings and a bunch of small cafes to eat and relax in - worth the trip up

A lovely old part of biella well worth a visit, the cobbled roads are a little hard to walk on and the funicular railway was not working so it was a good walk up the hill

It's a cute village on the top of a hill with the Alps at the back. You can take a tram or else it's a 15 minute walk. at the top there are restaurants and bars and pretty old buildings. the best thing is unlike many Italian towns it is not touristic and you'll find many locals instead. I personally dislike touristic masses, they tend to ruin the place

Mid-September of 2014, I was fortunate enough to be in northwest Italy (Piemonte or Piedmont) about 1 ½ hours from Milan in a small city called Biella. Biella stands by the front range of the Italian Alps and just below Oropa, the famous shrine and monastery. Besides the spectacular scenery there are other interesting sites dating from the Roman and early Christian periods and Biella as a textile manufacturing center. In my opinion, Biella is worth a trip or stop passing thru to the Aosta Valley or Turin or other parts of Piemonte. One event in Mid-September is the open house at the 19th century Villa La Malpenga, a grand estate overlooking Biella and framed by the Alps. LaMalpenga is a member of The Great Italian Gardens. The weekend “Orti” is all about slow food and green gardening with lectures and tastings. By walking the grounds (specimen trees, lawns and sculpture) and enjoying the programs, exhibits and local vendors, you will find an opportunity to see Italy as few tourists do. See the websites for photos and details.

When in Biella you cannot miss a visit to the Piazzo quarter. You can reach him through a tram that in less than 5 minutes will bring you from the center or walking one of the different "RIVA" kind of road with stairs. The Piazzo can be reached by car, but pay attention that the road is closed to non residents during evening and part of the week-ends
In Piazzo there are many interesting buildings to visit. The old Synagogue called the "Sinagoga nascosta" (Hidden Synagogue) as it is in a nearly hidden location or the Lamarmora (the Savoia General) buildings. It is nice to walk around and look inside the different buildings with wide courts or walk to the "Giardinetti* (Small gardens" from where you will have beautiful views on Biella and the plain or to the "Prealpi Biellesi" and the Mucrone mountain. If you visit Biella the Piazzo is a must

Buongiorno,
