We visited here today, parking up at the Venetian Gate entrance as it is off season. With no one around, we enjoyed free access to the limit of how many stairs we wanted to climb. It's a rambling affair with many great viewpoints along the walls to the city below. All buildings had information signs in English and additional maps and descriptions were provided. The honored 65' Croatian flag of Independence is mounted in the center

The kids loved exploring the place. Beautiful views all around, a bit of a climb for some sections but that made it an even more immersive experience. Oh, and there's a good restaurant near the entrance as well.

Such a fantastic huge n vast fortress with the fantastic views!
This is the best place to learn about the local history visiting the various exhibitions starting from the BC times to the recent history.
We were the group of 9 professional tourist guides and enjoyed a lot the excellent guided tour!
Highly recommended to all!

I come here every time i am in Croatia. My first time there was nothing but the old fortress, now there are museums and places to eat. Every year there is more and more added for tourists to see. Very much enjoyed the building dedicated to the more recent history of Croatia.
I hope they will keep digging and exploring whats under the ruins and ground.
Great place for a family day. Even though i have been here countless times i can still spend hours here.
For me there is nothing better to stand at the top and just enjoy the amazing views of the beautiful countryside and take in the fresh air.

We weren't sure what to expect from the fortress, but it blew us away! It was so quiet and almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves in the middle of the afternoon. Spent a couple of hours exploring every bit of the site, climbing onto the walls, looking at the beautiful views and enjoying all of the exhibits. Particularly liked the history exhibition about the Yugoslav Wars- although this was mostly in Croatian with small sections in English, the pictures and video footage brought it to life. Highly recommend if you're in the Knin area, or as an excursion from Krka.

For Fort lovers as my travelling companion is this is worth a visit purely for the space you have to wander and investigate without wall wall people. We were greeted by a friendly and informative ticket sales lady , 30 kuna per adult . Amazing views , some
Museums and space to look and take fabulous pics . It’s in disrepair but to be expected , it’s clean , just as always mind the slippery stones . Hot as hot with little relief except for a cold drink at the little cafe with a view to die for .
I would recommend a visit !

Visitors climb a steep incline to get to tje entrance. It is relatively cheap to get in, but not everyone may enjoy the site. There are two exhibitions dedicated to the Croatian government winnin the war in what later became Croatia. There are some English explanations but these exhibitions are really for Croatian people to see. The rest of the fortress is not particularly well-explained nor always easy to navigate. Listen to the advice of the ticket office and do the fortress in a loop, ending with the patriotic statue to the first president of the Republic of Croatia and the large flag.
Do not go in the summer in the middle of the day as it is too hot. Either go right when the site opens or after 5pm when things cool, but do not leave it too late as there are tricky areas to navigate and you will want good light.

Large ruin of a fortress with plenty of space to run around. With very few visitors at the castle our children of 6 and 8 could run around by themselves and make discoveries. They absolutely loved it and so did we - it is very big, much is preserved and the view is stunning. Because of the lack of tourists it beats experiences like Edinburg Castle and likewise by far. Don’t use the restaurant - the service was poor and we waited for a very long time. There are no other places to buy drinks, snacks or ice cream, so I would recommend bringing drinks and snacks of your own. You’ll get thirsty from walking around on the mountaintop.

Huge medieval fortress. View from the top is stunning. Lots of stairs, wooden bridges and hidden passageways will surely leave you in awe.

It costs 30 kuna for an adult ticket but that does include two museums as well as the fortress so well worth the price. Incredible views throughout. Restaurant opposite the ticket office that is open all day until midnight if dinner in a fortress takes your fancy! We spent about an hour here but you could easily spend more time here
