‪Monte San Martino's a bit off the beaten tourist track (it's a few kilometres from Sarnano, down a decent country road), but it's definitely worth it, for the beautiful countryside, the village, and the extraordinary richness and importance of the art there. The gorgeous two-storey polyptych by Carlo and Vittore Crivelli is kept, together with other paintings, including two polyptychs by Vittore Crivelli, in the parish church (San Martino), so don't count on being able to go in immediately. Allow a bit of time to find somebody with a key, or, even better, ring up the village pinacoteca beforehand (0733 660514). The people there will know about other paintings in Monte San Martino too. Before going home, try to find somewhere where you can try a glass of the 'vino cotto' that the whole area is famous for.‬
