This place is brilliant, its untouched and massive complex. The story behind it is remarkable and only recently been uncovered. You need around 2 hours to walk around and look at the site along with discussing with the owner the history of the battery. I would go here first before pointe du huc. There is talk of uncovering the second part of the complete which is still buried. Hopefully in the next few years that part will be reopened to the public. The book that links to the battery "the cover up at Omaha" is worth reading after you visit the site.

This small museum tells the story of the training for the assault on the cliffs at La Pointe du Hoq. They trained on the cliffs of the Needles on the Isle of Wight which was the nearest match to the French cliffs they would have to climb.

The woman on duty was exceptionally helpful and friendly, let our dog come in with us, and answered lots of questions from museum visitors and passers by too who were lost or looking for places/things. Superb.
The museum was small but packed with information about the performance of the Rangers on D-day, bringing to life the experiences of the men who led the way (often glossed over or missed in films). Upstairs there was a film with news footage, film clips and interviews that was very interesting and informative, and some great scale models. A museum for the sake of information not just to sell you stuff (no gift shop). Well worth the €4.50 entrance fee. FYI not open on Mondays.

Visited here many years ago. This is a little hokey but still a good overview of the Pont du hoc campaign. When we brought our kids to Normandy this was one of the new exhibits I really wanted them to see. We showed up about 20 minutes before closing time and the girl was very unpleasant and said it was too late. My guess is she wanted to leave early. Horrible customer service.

We learned a lot about the Rangers battle at Pointe du Hoc which is 2 miles down the beach. If your interested in the history behind Pointe du Hoc this is worth the stop. You have to read the boards set up to get the complete story. A lot written about Earl Rudder that led the troops, TAMU Whoop! Upstairs is a short film to watch. The museum is tired looking and dated inside. They gave us a free video as a gift thank you! We then drove to Pointe du Hoc and understood what took place there and made it more meaningful to us.

This is mostly information boards with a few relics and mementoes also with a film about the Rangers. The info was very clearly laid out and gave a good overview of the rangers and their objective on D-Day. Worth a visit.

We visited this small seafront museum in the attractive town of Grandcamp-Maisy as part of our tour on Normandy beaches and landing grounds. The museum is small and is purely dedicated to the American Rangers, particularly the operation of the 2nd Ranger battalion at Pointe du Hoc a few kilometres away.
The museum staff were friendly and helpful, they made a point of starting the documentary in the first floor cinema as soon as we wanted to see it. The documentary covered reminiscences of Ranger veterans plus President Reagan's speech at Pointe du Hoc in 1984.
The ground floor part of the museum was dedicated to the narrative of the assault, capture and subsequent defence of Pointe du Hoc by three companies of the 2nd Ranger battalion. This episode was an important operation on D Day and was carried out under extremely difficult conditions as is well documented by the museum. One or two aspects of the narrative differ from that described elsewhere in museums and historical text books, but this is unimportant as any military operation is confused and there will always alternative versions of some details. The museum talks a little about training and about the D Day exploits of the rest of the 2nd battalion and of the 5th battalion.
We recommend this museum to those interested in this small but daring D Day operation. After a visit to the museum it is recommended that the visitor then visits the Pointe du Hoc site that helps to put the museum into context. At the museum one reads of the difficulties of the operation, but visiting the site really brings home the magnitude of the achievement of those Rangers.

This is not, in truth, a great museum. The artefacts on display are sparse, and - ignoring their associations - rather commonplace. But the whole place is lifted by its close attention to one of the most fiercely-contested actions of the Normandy landings: the assault on, and subsequent defence of, the Pointe du Hoc by 2nd Battalion of the US Rangers. So, many of the artefacts are the personal effects of those heroic young men, and they are accompanied by their own words. Visit this place after seeing the Pointe du Hoc itself and be humbled by the extraordinary feats of those who would otherwise have been ordinary men like us.

It was my second family tour to France this time we had booked a private tour for this trip. As a part of our package deal we came to visit this Museum. Our guide had spoken a lot about this place throughout the tour and we were very eager to visit it.
The place is really small and decorated with some antic look. It has different kind of antic pics in the collection. The location is fabulous opposite to the beach. If you go upstairs you can get to movies one demand which is nice. Even though they have no elevator but still a Pretty simple place if you like history as a I do surely you will like it.

This museum is small, and mainly composed of souvenirs from the Rangers. Most of the collection is on the ground floor; upstairs there's a film about the Rangers, and a few models. It's definitely worth a look if you're really interested in the Rangers, but if you are pressed for time, I'd give it a pass.
