Have visited Parambikulam Tiger Reserve several times. It is a protected area located in the Anaimalai Hills of Western ghats in Kerala state. You can visit this Reserve area from Pollachi town in Tamil nadu state. It is at about 60 km from Pollachi. We can spot animals such as Elephant, Tiger, Panther, Deer, Wild Dog, Nilgiri Tahr, etc being a thick forest. Parambikulam, Thunakadavu and Peruvaripallam dams are there.
Near by attraction, one would pass through is Topslip ie, one has to travel Pollachi-Topslip-Parambikulam. Totally 2-3 days may be required to cover the attractions here. The travel along the forest route itself will be amazing.

This is a remote place this is under controlled by Kerala forest department. You can book your stay in forest department website in online, there are three four types of accommodation available.
There is no mobile network so you can free from all disturb. Tracking, boating & safari all include with packages.

Only one tree top house is available in Thunakadavu and another one in Parambikulam Town. We booked the Tree Top House, Thunakadavu thru online. Other stay options are also available. Thunakadavu tree top house was renovated recently. It is a small one and only two can stay comfortable. Food, Van Safari, Trekkig and Boating have been included in the package. One guide will accompany till the end of the stay. Cannot go outside without guide. Opposite to tree top house there is a small dining, where tribals will cook for us. Women tribal dance show is also included in the package.
Animals sightseeing is purely based on the luck only. The day visited was Pongal holiday and it was fully crowded, so we couldn't spot many animals. If you visit this place during week days with less crowded, chances of seeing wild animals are high. We saw elephants, wild boar, deer, peacock and Indian Gaur. It is a deep forest and nature is preserved, No luxury. This place is to enjoy the nature and to relax. One or two nights stay can be preferred.

Do not expect a luxurious stay and food.
If you love nature and it's silence, this is the perfect place. Myself and family booked the honeycomb room in parambikkulam tiger reserve. It situated in the middle of the forest. There are many dams and associated reservoirs within this forest. All the reservoirs and water bodies are beautiful. The resort is managed by tribals and the hospitality provide d was great.

We booked the cottage which is inside the forest , facing the dam. That's the only cottage inside the whole jungle. At check post you are aloted a jungle guide who will accompany you during your entire stay. The house is built at a height sort of tree house , with very very basic amenity. Only A true jungle lover should opt for this room actually. From your room you can spot animals such a deer , peacock Elephants across the dam. For food you have to visit the dining area which is across the jungle road near to the guide's room. Our guide Jimmy made all possible efforts to make our stay wonderful. Fresh catch fish , country side chicken were served . The feeling here cannot be described as it is so mesmerizing. The silence of the night beside the dam and animal howls throughout the night made it an adventurous stay. Be aware of power supply cut in this area .
They take you for Safari in small buses , you can also go by your own car. We spotted wild dogs , Malabar squirrel , peacock , bison , elephant.
Over all a must visit place.

We stayed here two nights this week. It’s a Government owned resort, with basic but clean facilities. Food served was local specialities and really tasty. Located in the heart of the reserve, it made travelling the Park easy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The building (HoneyComb) needs renovation and the outside area a redo. All this notwithstanding, I’d easily give it 3 stars.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is a well protected ecological portion in the Nelliampathy - Anamalai
landscape. the sanctuary is endowed with a peninsular flora and fauna , minimal human interference in
the area, The thick, opulent habitat of the sanctuary with ample water supplys make it an abode for wildlife and there by for tourist who can have treasured memories of animal sightings and that of being
in the lap of mother nature.
Facilities to stay on Tree Houses, Natural Camp , Campfire etc..

An optional trip which is not highly recommended. A very long way to drive and really a boring journey to reach at the destination and need to pay for the vehicle at both check posts by different states to see almost nothing. The safari was good as we could experience the wild life and see some wild animals. Any how it was just wasting a whole day to see nothing.

Best place to enjoy raw nature and just an hour's drive from Coimbatore or Palakkad.The road to top slip was in a dilapidated condition last year but the TN government has relaid the road now and travelling up is a breeze. Try to visit in August-September to enjoy the real beauty of this place when the reservoir is almost full and the climate is very pleasant. For one day trip the jungle safari will suffice your desire to see nature. Tree top house and cottage are available if you wish to stay overnight and have to be booked in advance from their official website. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Planning for a weekend stay at Peruvari Island Nest @ Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Heard that food is not part of the package for stay at Island Nest. So can we carry food provisions while going there (from Coimbatore) or any grocery shop available at Parambikulam to buy?
Also do the forest officials at the toll gates allow food inside to carry like snacks, groceries etc..?

It's mentioned that two plus one extra person are allowed in tree top hut thunakadavu. We're a couple with a 5 year old kid and a 10 months old baby. Does my 20 month old count as an extra person?

To my knowledge, bikes are Not allowed.
Cars require permission from the Forest Office.

Its absolutely safe for girls and family. Package is totally functioning by gov of kerala . authorities. Food, water and all amenities included in the packages. Mobile coverage is not available there. If you could buy a BSNL sim card, you can get network coverage in some areas. You may book the packages through parambikkulamorg website. Do not forget to bring the copy of your package pdf printout. Enjoy your stay.
