‪Small museum in the village‬

‪The museum though small in size is very impressive, particularly the timber structure. Do remember to wash your hands in the stone basin at the frontage prior to entering the shrine and have a taste of sake there.‬

‪Quite and impressive‬

‪Nice, quite shrine to be visited while you are in Shirakawa. Well maintained shrine has impressively beautiful natural stone basin, which is used for purifying yourself by rinsing your hands and mouth before you enter the shrine.
Go beyond the shrine and you will see a quaint village that also has a few Gassho style farm houses.‬

‪small museum with excellent sake‬
זוגות • אפר׳ 2017
‪Small museum devoted to the festival, which is of middling interest.
The sake, however, is very interesting with its slightly sweet and sour taste, and can only be had at this location. The price is around 300 yen and you can drink several cups for that price if you want.

The sake itself is worth going there.‬

‪Must try the Doburoku‬
לבד • אפר׳ 2017
‪Excellent view of trees and the town. The doburoku festival museum is beside the shrine. Inside you can watch a video on the festival, explore the museum and drink the doburoku made last year. Doburoku is a type of unrefined sake which has a really interested texture. I generally didn't enjoy the sake I have tried elsewhere but this doburoku was really good!‬

‪Really.. the words are obsolete in this case. Near the shrine is also a nice museum - doburoku festival museum. ‬

‪Excellent Sake Experience‬
זוגות • יולי 2016
‪The shrine is very nice and all but, right next to the shrine is the Festival Hall or Museum.
Do not miss the museum because it has a unique form of unrefined sake. If you like to try some sake in Japan and you are in this village, you should head for this place. The staff at the museum was friendly and helpful. This sake is only served during the annual festival in this village. We got the left over sake from the festival.‬

‪Shirakawa Shrine‬
זוגות • מרץ 2016
‪Centuries of living isolated in the mountains created a unique situation where the local temples brewed sake that was consumed during an annual festival. As far as shrines go - this is pretty basic but I never skip an opportunity to throw my coin, clap my hands and send my wish.‬
