On a vast area, strewn with dolmens, there is a mysterious, impressive and inspiring stone structure. The time and purpose are unknown. Enjoy.

Got all the way almost there, but the last half hour would have been over super rocky terrain. Didn't want to pop a tire. Had my kids with me and wasn't expecting to hike another hour. Drivers, be advised.

Park you car in "Daliot campsite", and walk here for about 1.5 hours across the "Golan Trail" (Green-Blue-White mark). Be here to touch history, or pre-history, see this unique wonder in the middle of nowhere. on the way you'll find streaming fresh water - which is refreshing in a hot day.

A 5,000 years old site located in the Southern side of the Golan Heights, near the borders with Syria and Lebanon. Yaniv from Pinna Balev (where we always stay) told us about this amazing site and we are SO glad that we had this tip off our wonderful host.
Four or five stone circles with a mound of stones in the centre, under which is what seems to be a burial chamber. To read about the history of the site google "Wiki Rujm el-Hiri".
Access is near a settlement called Yonathan, it is off the road, we turned into a dirt road. There are no sign posts, just a drive of about 20 minutes in a field in the middle of nowhere. At one point we went past a cattle farm who kindly guided us. Then we parked the car and walked about ten minutes, including crossing a shallow stream.
You may not be able to drive through in a car, there were a couple of deep puddles that I am not sure a car can cross, but one can always walk...
An absolutely mind blowing ancient site in the beautiful Golan Heights. Super recommended.
To re-iterate: this amazing site is not maintained by the government, it is in the middle of a field, there are no opening hours nor entrance fees. It is under the weather and I am gobsmacked that the Israelis do not turn it into the glorious tourist attraction it should be, and allow proper access to it. Great shame that such an ancient site is deteriorating without the care and preservation it needs.
A tip: opposite the dirt road that provides access to the site there is a tall guard tower of the Israeli army overlooking the border I presume. There is also a sign post directing to Tiberius. Best to ask your hosts to provide guidance and use Waze. Not easy to find, but this gem is worth it, magnificent place.
I tried to attach panoramic pictures that capture the grandeur of the site but they are over the size allowed... Sorry, I did try -:).
