I had been wanting to try Palli’s knifemaking workshop for ages and I’m so glad I finally got a chance. His workshop is crammed with the most interesting materials and tools as well as the beautiful finished product. Palli was very patient and gave great instruction throughout the day, as well as being a great guy and host! I definitely learnt loads and you really appreciate how much work and skill goes into each knife which are all handmade with individual sheaths. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Found a great website that offers cultural experiences and craft classes in Iceland. https://creativeiceland.is
That is where I found Palle Kristjans, The Knifemaker. He offers a workshop where you can shape your own handle. He sets you up for success, prepping the wood prior, so that as you file and sand the characteristic of the wood start to show. The workshop was 4 - 6 hours, including a lovely lunch.

He also has a small shop attached to his studio that showcases some of his work and unique treasures he has found. After almost a month in Iceland this was easily at the top of our favorite list.

If you are a cook or hunter or maybe just love hand made works of art this is the place! Amazing knives and an amazing artist. Take the time to find the shop and invest in the finest knife you could ever buy. Handles are made of found wood, bones, whale teeth and antlers. The craftsmanship is worth every penny and the artist is so kind and humble.

After reading reviews we stopped since my husband and uncle love one of a kind knives. Amazing craftsmanship and beautiful items for sale. A bit too high priced for us, but we enjoyed stopping in and looking around.

I bought a dagger from this Craftsman. It is both beautiful and well-made. It is a little pricey but quality isn't cheap.

We stopped for the wool store and were pleasantly surprised to also find the knife maker's shop. The knife maker was present and told us about his products. These knives are pieces of art. More expensive than we could afford, but definitely worth a visit and great to see this level of craftsmanship. Also enjoyed petting the two doggies on site. If you like true craftsmanship, visit this shop.

We visited this amazing workshop recently when we were staying at the Hotel Laxnes and it was a true delight ! The Owner was away but his lovely apprentice/assistant showed us around and told us all about the techniques and materials they use to make these incredible knives which quite frankly are total works of art ! There is quite a natural history collection in the workshop which I loved as I have a collection myself at home so we had fun swopping information on various items with this polite and helpful young man. Really glad we visited and I would say check out the artist's website to learn how and why these beautiful knives come into existence !..

One of our fellow travelers collects knives and searched out this local knife maker. The store had amazing knifes, and the sales person/apprentice was very helpful and educational.
