‪This is an incredible story. Casa Vestita is not a museum but a private place. The owner bought the house and with the time, during restorations, found a trove of treasures which now he shares with people, not for money (2Eur for person...) but for the pleasure to share. He found in his garden a floor from the greek time, 2400 years ago, he found a templar chapel which has been hidden when templars were outlawn by the french Emperor and by the Pope. He found coins, pots, crosses, paintings... The owner offers an incredible knowledge about art and history and he is genuinely interested in sharing his story, his knowledge and his experience. His culture is really vast and he can talk about art from ancient Greece to middle age. We went 2 times in 1 year and every time we found ourselves engaged in passionate discussions. The owner has the power to transmit his passion, his culture and to engage in personal anectodes, creating a bond with people. The owner does not speak fluent English (though i think he may understand some), so you need either to speak Italian or to bring a translator (better if knwoledgeable in art & history to pair the owners' vast knowledge) Just remember: this is not a museum, but a private house which the owner can decide or not to share with you, so asking for permission to visit, during his working time (as owner of one of Grottaglie pottery laboratories), is needed.‬

‪Dressed home, it is located in Grottaglie (Taranto), in the heart of the picturesque District of Ceramics in via Crispi 63 / a. The site is open to the community to accommodate temporary exhibitions dedicated to the culture clay grottagliese. Inside it preserves a medieval cave church recently discovered, exceptional artistic testimony dating back to the thirteenth century. Visited during the temporary exhibitions or by appointment.‬

‪The house is situated on on the main street behind 2 huge wooden doors. When we were waiting to enter I was quite excited to see some of the ancient vases and tools used to make the ceramics in ancient times. The villa itself was very impressive with its mosaic floors and imposing columns, and the array of vases, sculptures and artefacts was quite extensive. The only criticism I would make would be about the tour guide. She seemed so lacking in confidence and it was so badly delivered that the information provided seemed like it was invented. That being said, it was only €2 for the guided tour so it didn't break the bank. I would definitely recommend visiting the villa, just be aware that the tour is obligatory.‬
