‪This little hut is part of the history of Newquay and the fishing industry, we always stop for a few moments and enjoy the views when walking along the coast in Newquay.‬

‪A building which well illustrates the history of Cornwall. Dating from the 14th Century, according to the listing plaque (it is a grade 2 listed building, it was used in the 16th century as a lookout point for the seasonal arrival of pilchards in the bay - and arrival signaled by a horn blast.
A marvelous piece of history. ‬

‪Interesting building, not much to see there. Small steps to the rear which you can climb up it but be careful when its windy - can really catch you and feels quite dangerous if I'm being honest!‬

‪Not much to the hut itself but there’s an information plaque. The hut is in great order and the scenery is fantastic. Well worth stopping off ‬

‪Could see this from a distance when we have been out and about round Newquay.
Went for a walk on our last day around the harbour and up the coastal path and managed to find it.
I am glad we found it and enjoyed the walk there and reading about it.
Nice little photo stop.‬

‪So - the Huer was a lookout person, someone who watched out for the shoals of fish and shouted (like a Hue and Cry) to the fishermen to come and catch some.

The building itself is worth a look as you wander along the coast path. ‬

‪Took the Son to see this today to learn about it's history. It is called the Huer's Hut and is located just up from Dane Road along from Little Fistral. It is based along the side of a one way road so care needs to be taken when on foot. There are video's on you tube that explain the history which is great for kids. You can climb to the top and sit on the top with amazing views but the steps are pretty scary and have no rail. I didn't attempt it but my Son did. He said the views were amazing. Much more interesting when you see the history behind it.‬

‪I enjoyed visiting Huer's Hut and took many great photographs of it. It's a good piece of history and interesting to learn about it. Visited while staying in Newquay. When climbing the steps to the top, it was slippery and there is not much grip to hold onto. Good views and would recommend visiting.‬

‪This is a very historial site previously used for spotting shoals of pilchards. The actual building is empty and takes seconds to walk around, so not much to see. The paint looked newly refreshed, but there was rubbish nearby. I suspect the inside has been used as a toilet also! Its worth visiting at sunrise though. There are stairs at the back and you can even sit on the roof! Certainly worth a look as part of a walk around the coast.‬
