‪Charming little treasure trove. Free too!‬
אוק׳ 2020
‪As far as house museums go, I have to say the Cognacq-Jay was an enjoyable diversion. A charming collection of eighteenth-century painting, sculpture, and applied arts tastefully organized in a comfortable setting. From Fragonard and Boucher to maybe less famous artists, collector Ernest Cognacq really had a good eye. And unlike the musée de la Vie romantique, one really felt welcome here- a cozy place to stroll from room to room. It's not a huge place, but worth seeking out for the art enthusiasts out there.‬

‪A Treasure House In The Marais‬
פבר׳ 2020
‪A delightful Museum founded by a husband and wife who made their money from the La Samaritaine department store with the collection gradually coming together in the first part of the twentieth century. The old Hotel Donon in the Marais was the chosen venue, but it has the feel of a large family home and contains many fascinating treasures to discover. Well worth a visit, and free to enter.‬

‪Beautiful Exhibit......free admission‬
דצמ׳ 2019
‪Based in a lovely old building (though purchased for the task and not a place the couple ever lived), we enjoyed the collection of the wealthy but childless couple who founded the Samaritaine department store.‬

‪A suoerb little museum‬
נוב׳ 2019
‪This little museum is tucked away in the Marais, a short walk from the St Paul metro station and the Place des Vosges. A number of small rooms house the collection of Ernest Cognacq and his wife, Marie-Louise Jay, the founders of La Samaritaine. There are no great masterpieces, but no crowds either, and instead a rather wonderful selection of fine and decorative art and furniture, mostly from the 18th century. Among the French painters are Boucher, Fragonard, Hubert Robert, Watteau, Greuze and Chardin, while Italy is represented by Canaletto and Guardi, and England by Reynolds. There are some excellent, mostly small, examples of French sculpture, porcelain from China, Meissen and Sevres, fine miniatures and exquisitely crafted boxes. All of this, amazingly enough, is available free, though donations are welcomed.‬

‪Nice museum with paintings, furniture and objects ‬
זוגות • נוב׳ 2019
‪We went to this museum which is located in a nice townhouse with a garden which belonged to the Cognacq family who later gave it to the city of Paris to use as a museum. It actually feels like visiting the house of the family. There is quite a collection of 18th century paintings that belong to artists who are mostly unknown now. However there is one Rembrandt probably from his earlier period as his style is very different and 2 very nice Canaletto paintings.
There are many beautiful small objects like boxes, cases and many beautiful furnitures and sculptures.
There is no elevator so you have to climb 2-3 floors. The museum is free of charge and there are deposit boxes for your belongings. There is also a small museum shop. It is not a must see museum but you can visit it if you are in the area.‬

‪Short afternoon trip‬
יולי 2019
‪This is a gem of a collection from the French equivalents of John Lewis. Rather than leave their company to staff they left this wonderful collection of beautiful objects to the French people. The villa the works are housed in is worth a look alone. Lovely calm environment easy to spend an hour or two in contemplation. Free as well. A pleasant way to while away some time in central Paris. regards Livarot‬

‪Quirky Collection of 18th Century Art‬
זוגות • אוג׳ 2019
‪Set in a lovely old building (Not handicap-friendly) entry was free. Several levels, with paintings, decorative arts, sculpture and more. Very much had that personal collection feel. A slow visit takes an hour. Tiny gift shop. No WiFi. Decent toilet. Do not go out of your way to visit (unless you really like art from this period) but it’s about a block from the Picasso Museum, and it makes a worthy stop while you stroll the Marais.‬
