‪The Nicolas stores seemed to pop up everywhere we went in France and we bought wine from them on more than one occasion. Small wine shops with a nice selection at very reasonable prices. Nice place to keep in mind if you are staying in an Airbnb or self-catering place and want a French wine with your midweek holiday supper.‬

‪Hard to go Wrong at Nicolas‬

‪This wine-shop chain has Paris covered. Wherever you go, there is bound to be a Nicolas nearby. I have been in at least eight of them over the years and the only difference I've noted has been in size.

I've always found at least one staff member who speaks English, which helps me immensely in wine selection when I don't have a specific request. I am always asked what kind of food will be served with the wine and how much I want to pay. Some bottles start as low as 3 euros but there is a wide of range of prices and options.

I last visited a Nicolas shop on Christmas Eve, looking for that perfect bottle to take to a holiday dinner at a friend's house. I was waited on promptly and the employee ensured that I met my goal.‬

‪It seems that there is a Nicolas shop every few blocks in Paris. They vary in size, but all shops have a very good selection in all price ranges. The staff is helpful and, as with many businesses in Paris, they will usually speak some English to accommodate
tourists. Any Nicolas shop is worth a visit, even if only to browse.‬

‪I wanted to try the Ecusson Cidre Rose after seeing adds for it all over the city. I tried other shops in the area, but this Nicolas was the only shopped that carried anything other than plain Cidre.‬

‪One of the Better Nicolas Stores‬

‪This Nicolas, on Rue Cler, is one of their better stores.
Smaller, but the selection here is very good.
A gentleman, whose english is excellent, looked after us.
His suggestion of a Montagny blanc was perfect.
Went back for a second bottle the next day.
If you are on Rue Cler it is worth the visit.‬
