Really very interesting museum, didn’t really want it to end.
Definitely something for everybody.

I loved this museum. You get access to a couple of boats which I loved and I am sure so would children. A lovely day out for the whole family and just a short walk away near the aquarium.

We were very surprised and pleased that the day we visited it was free as it was a special occasion with ex crew members of the ships showing you around but we would have been happy with the € 9.00 entrance fee.
The history of the port looked very interesting but if you can read French it would be better.
The fishing trawler and tug boat were good to look around but the jewel is the weather ship ‘France’.
Once onboard there is a very comprehensive and logical route laid out to visit most areas of the ship.
We had a great conversation with the ships’s ex doctor who said he had sailed onboard 50 years ago. He looked and sounded many years younger than he purported to be - obviously taking his own medicine.
You could visit the engine room and bridge too.
The galley (kitchen) was huge but then the French cuisine is renowned.
Speaking of food there is a great restaurant on the top deck which on our visit was very busy and we had to wait ages for our food but it was worth it and not expensive.
I thoroughly recommend this as a great not to be missed attraction, a super morning out with lunch afterwards and suitable for the whole family.

So much to see! If I had to single out one highlight it would be Ocean Weather Station “Charlie”, which is an absolute jewel of a window into the daily life of the meteorologists and sailors who spent months on station in the middle of the North Atlantic to provide critical weather and oceanographic observations for weather forecasts. Spent at least 3 hours in OWS Charlie and recommend a full day to see all the exhibits with a lunch break at the excellent restaurant on OWS Charlie.

Firstly, I was somewhat irritated to discover (much later) that the four museums for the price of three was a nonsense, by the time we got to the art gallery the following day it was closed for renovations. They should have told us when we bought the four! Secondly, this is an ill thought through museum with massive potential. Looking at the France 1 ship was interesting but failed to really grab you to be honest. It’s a french meteorological ship of the 50’s. Other smaller boats were along the quay side but it wasn’t clear which were from what era and you couldn’t do more than just look at them. Oddly there is no shop upon exit so they’re missing a trick there, not least because there’s a model maker on site. There’s an interesting children’s area with rope knots to do and other games but it wasn’t particularly inviting and no staff present. The bar on the ship is quite nice and we enjoyed our drinks and the staff overall were reasonable helpful but clearly not passionate about the museum and it’s contents. Wouldn’t rush back.

Fascinating museum mainly on boats allowing lots of exploration. The big boat has an excellent bar and restaurant on the top deck.

Situated a few hundred yards from the old harbour. The museum consists of a large outbuilding ( good visual history of the town and fishing industry) and three vessels - a tug, a trawler and a weather ship. Limited access on the tug and trawler but the weather ship offers a fantastic exploration of all facets of the ship. The accompanying written descriptions are mainly in French but this does not detract from the experience. There is even a posh restaurant on the top deck at the end of your visit. Very reasonably priced. Recommended!

Very interesting - my favourite part was going around the boats and seeing the guts of the ships. There is even a bar on the top of one for a cheeky drink and rest

The boats are the real highlight of this trip, the final one being fascinating. The museum part at the start is less interesting with very little information in English. Cafe in the final ship is very good too.

I'm not sure. I didn't see any one with a dog but that doesn't mean they don't allow them. I think it would be a bit impractical as there is a lot of narrow corridors and rooms. Hope that helps.
