Pretty and well maintained lagoon area

We visited El Charco de San GInes on a cruise call to Arrecife. This is a pretty area with a large lagoon and lakeside walk, which is nicely maintained. There are lots of bars and restaurants where you can get refreshments, and its a pleasant spot to relax for a while.

Pretty area of Arrecife, boats, bars and bizarre statues

I explored El Charco de San Gines as part of a pleasant stroll around Arrecife on a cruise ship visit to Lanzarote. It wasn't somewhere I had researched in advance, I just stumbled across it really, but was pleased I did.
It's a pretty lagoon area close to the centre of town, with plenty of bars and restaurants along one side, various boats bobbing around in the water, and some odd and slightly bizarre public art works and statues too.
It's a cool place to relax or chill with a drink, or just people watch. Worth checking out.

Great place to relax or eat

We've been to El Charco on several occasions - it's a great place to relax and watch the world go by! There are many bars and restaurants here and, as usual, we stopped for lunch and a cool drink. It's also nice to walk all around the perimeter, stopping to admire the artwork and statues, and to watch the small boats bobbing up and down - lovely!

Found this area after we hopped off the sight-seeing 'train'. Superb. Loads of cafes and restaurants. Good food and not costly. Good service. Great view over the lagoon. Very laid back a and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Visited on a number of occasions, to walk around and to sit at one of the many fish restaurants. Beautiful views from all sides and v photogenic esp in the evening.

Lots of good restaurants to choose from set around the lake. Very pleasant to walk around. Close to city centre and beaches.

Lovely area. Lots of bars and restaurants. A great place to walk around and take in the atmosphere. Stop at one of the many bars / restaurants for a drink/ lunch.

I wouldn't share a kitchen and bathroom again in this type of accommodation. You really are on top of the people you are sharing with. You can hear every door click, shower running and toilet flushing, crockery in the kithen clanking and conversation. I just didn't feel relaxed apart in my room. If your the gregarious type you might relish it but it wasent for me. Having said that the place was clean with all the kitchen gadgets you need and nice hot shower. My advice would be pay a bit more and get somewhere self contained. If your really unlucky you could end up sharing with some noisy neigbours.

Choice of restaurants and lovely outlook

Delightful area to spend time for snacks,drinks, evening meals. La Estrella and Divina Italia are well worth a visit for evening dining and La Minoca is the best bar in the area to finish off the evening but warm clothes and coat for sitting outside essential in January.

What is playa blanca like for a day trip from a cruise. Is there a prom and bars and restaurants. Is it similar to puerto del carmen

We are going end of sep on a cruise. Is arecife nice enough to wander round for the day. Done timanfaya and puerto del carmen but would like somewhere that has a holiday feel. Could do playa blanca but that would mean a bus trip from the ship

It is a lovely place to enjoy the sun and eat very good, authentic Spanish/Canarian food, and it is not touristy. It can be quiet and peaceful and has relatively few British tourists, so less of the bad behaviour that sometimes enbarrasses us elsewhere.

It is a pleasant 20 minute walk from El Reducto beach to the restaurant strip of the Charco. On Saturday there is a small farmers market by the church in El Charco de San Gines.

I concur with the last poster. There may well be apartments adjacent to the harbour, so I suggest you contact the tourist board in Arrecife and I am sure they will be able to give you a definitive answer.
