‪Wouldn’t bother to be honest. Took us about 15 minutes to go through it all and most of the place had exhibits blocked off. We did get in for free though because it’s free after 2pm on Saturdays but I still wouldn’t bother to be honest‬

‪This is a museum close to Atocha/El Retiro. It houses three different exhibitions: the Philippines, Africa, and America. It also has a room dedicated to skulls and skeletons that date back to the beginning of the museum in the 19th century.
The building is quite nice; it is a Neoclassical building‬

‪This is a wonderful museum with an incredible display of prehistoric artefacts beautifully presented. Minor irritant is the fact that the English texts in the subdued light are barely readable. The mock display of the ceiling of the Altamira Cave is a disappointment.‬

‪It helps greatly if you visit this attraction to be able to read English or Spanish - the information systems used to detail how people lived from pre-history to about 1900 throughout is superb. I would rank this Museum as the best I've ever visited in my lifetime - hence my shock to see it ranked 143rd in the Trip Advisor Reviews of 950 things to do in Madrid. Of course I'm biased I can read English and there was a superb representation of how the Celts lived and lived with Romans, Visigoths, Moors over thousands of years in Spain - far better than anything I have seen in Ireland.‬

‪Stunning temporary exhibition Face to Face of the Spanish Civil War taken by photographers from both sides. On till end of September 2019. The events depicted were utterly moving. Rest of the museum provided a brief introduction to ethnicity and cultural diversity which is shown on three floors. The museum is small and engaging. Well worth a visit.

‪The ‘Giant of Extremadura’ was born in 1849 and at 7’ 8” tall, made Agustín Capilla one of the tallest Spaniards of all time. Seeing his skeleton was really the highlight of this anthropological museum. As it was free to go in we whizzed around the Asian and African floors before quickly leaving.‬

‪Very disappointing museum with tiny collection spread out over three floors. Perhaps 20% has an English translation so lots of guessing. Basically more staff at the museum than collection. Do not bother visiting and wait till you are in a city with a proper anthropology museum.‬

‪This was my fourth trip to Madrid, but my first time visiting this museum. I would list it as a must see. It is filled with fascinating and beautiful artifacts revealing the history of Spain. Included is the Spanish Mona Lisa, a gorgeous sculpture from the Roman period, magnificent mosaic floors from the same period and gorgeous wooden sacred sculptures from Spanish medieval churches. The best part - it isn't overcrowded like the other major museums of Madrid. And it is visitor friendly.‬
