This is Rome’s little “lighthouse,” a monument built by 1911 by Italians who immigrated to Argentina. There’s a beautiful view of the city from here.

This a modern lighthouse built to commemorate the unification of Italy. It was funded by the Italian diaspora in Argentina. Like many of the minor sights of Rome, it's worth a quick look if you're nearby, but don't make a special journey.

We visited this lighthouse going up Janiculum Hill. It is not worth going out of the way to visit it but visit if in the area. Views here are stunning.

Looks more like a garbage dump. No view any longer.
You’re much better off with the Piazza Ta Anfiteatro just nearby. That has a cafe too.
So go for Piazza Ta Anfiteatro instead of the Faro.

I don't think I would climb the hill just to see the lighthouse as it is only comparatively small and not a sight you can go up. That said, it is a beautiful piece of architecture with stunning views across Rome all along the walk from there to Garibaldi's monument.

As you come down the road from the Piazzale Garibaldi towards St. Peters, you will come across this beautiful lighthouse. It is odd to see this lighthouse on top of the Gianicolo Hill. It was built in 1911 as a gift from Italians living in Argentina. The structure is also known as the Manfredi lighthouse, after its creator Manfredo Manfredi.

We walked up from Vatican and before went to Trastevere. Nice panoramic view to the center of the Rome.

We walked up here after reading about the views. It's not the easiest of climbs in places so I can imagine it wouldn't be much fun for some people but the views once you get to there are amazing. You can see the whole city and further afield.

If you go wlaking, prepare to a somewhat hard way up. But it worth the view. You can see most of the monuments and it is a quit place surrounded by nature. There were no bathrooms up there and just some places selling water and packed food.

You can see all the major attractions from up here so it gives you a good overall view of the city. It certainly is a great place to take panoramic photos!
It is a bit of steep climb up to the site but I am nearly six months pregnant and I managed to do it!
We then continued to walk along the Janiculum hill to the Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere. It certainly is a manageable walk and there is much to see along the way.
Plus when you get down to Trastevere there is plenty of places to refill your tummy with gelato and pasta :)

Hi. I'm not sure I'm up for the hike to the lighthouse, but would like to see it. Can you view it from any area below it, or on a public bus going by in that area? Also, if I do attempt to hike up there, could someone venture a guess as to about how long it will take for a person of average health?

Hi. We went to the lighthouse from the St Peter square. If I remember we walked for 20-25 minutes. We saw a lot of cars and buses, so I suppose there are public buses that going in the lighthouse. Download the application citymapper and search for transportation. This app is very helpful and you can see all the buses and metros in all the ways and every minute in real time. I hope to help you.
