It looked pretty good in pictures. Good enough that we spent maybe 15 euros to get to it. It lived up to the pictures with reasonably extensive decorative elements of good quality. We would have liked to stay longer if there wasn’t a rush to see other places. There is a large, neat complex of statues across the street which you can walk around and admire from different angles. You want to know whether it is worth coming here when there is quite a bit of other sites to see in Turin and the surrounding areas. Maybe not. It depends on how much time you have. It’s not a high priority. The solution is to come back until you have the time to come and see it, too.

Over-the-top interior decorations, 20th century. HIgh amusement value. Compares favourably with Las Vegas casinos.

Visited here to get some pictures of Italian architecture. Go glad we visited early as the crowds quickly made getting good pictures quite difficult. Nevertheless it was certainly worth the visit .Really interesting place and would urge others to visit.

One of the most beautiful churches in Turin, full of history. Downstairs there are also some medals and paintings worthy of seeing.

Quite beautiful and contains the relics of two Catholic Saints. Originally the site was a home for poor boys founded by St. John Bosco.

This Basilica is a definite "do not miss" kind of place when visiting Turin. I have visited many, many churches in Italy, but this one stands out as one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
The Basilica itself is very beautiful and HUGE. One cannot simply pass it by on the street; it has a very commanding presence. The inside is very ornate; it is decorated in marble and gold, along with numerous religious statues and artwork.
The Basilica houses the incorrupt remains of St. John Bosco and St. Maria Mozzarello. St. Maria's remains are located along a side chapel that appears to be dedicated to her. Displayed on the wall directly behind her tomb is a very large painting of the saint. St. John Bosco's remains lay in a different section of the church, where it is possible see the body from either side of the glass tomb. However, to see the saint from up close, it is better to walk around the backside of where he lays, as there is a corridor where visitors can stand directly across from the tomb.
St. Dominic Savio's remains are also housed in the Cathedral along a side chapel. Of note, there are two displays - one in pink and one in blue - located on either side of St. Dominic's statue near his remains. The displays of ribbons, notes and small stuffed animals appear to be notes of thanks left for the saint for answered prayers concerning children.
St. John Bosco is known for having prophetic dreams of pertaining to hell and the trials of the Catholic Church. Paintings representing these dreams, such as "the Two Columns" are on display within the church.
The Basilica is only a small part of the community here, the community started by St. John Bosco. The church and grounds are a living testament to this saint and his works. On the grounds, there is a café, gift shop, school, library, informational center, plus an covered outdoor courtyard area. I waited for a very long time for the gift shop to reopen after lunch, but it never did.
Across the street from where the Basilica is located is ample parking and statuary/displays depicting St. John's visions.
I found the entire Cathedral and the accompanying community to be quite impressive, and much larger than I had envisioned. I would strongly recommend allowing sufficient time when visiting here - at least a couple of hours - in order to take in all that it has to offer without rushing. It is totally worth stopping here and should be a "must do" when visiting Turin.

Really surprising place. Not to be missed, but better with a local guide to get the most of the many wonders of this shrine.

We stumbled onto this gem wandering through Torino. It has some Roman ruins near one of it's corners. The inside is absolutely amazing.

No hay ticket. No cobran entrada.

Grazie

Ciao a presto
