It sits on Via Vittorio Emanuele and dates from the mid 1500’s. It is surrounded by several stately palaces that were once home to aristocrats and merchants. Today the first floors of some of these once proud buildings hold cafes, and restaurants.
The Piazza contains the statue of Carlos V, an emperor who ruled Sicily in the early 1500’s.

Piazza Bologni is situated in Centro Storico and is bounded by Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Giuseppe D'Alessi to form an almost rectangular square and was built in 1566. The two major buildings that dominate the square are Palazzo Alliata di Villafranca and Palazzo Ugo delle Favare and taking centrestage is Statua di Carlo V. From 1900 to 1946 the square was the terminus of the Palermo to Monreale tramway. The faded and crumbling piazza has a lot of history and is a must see whilst in Centro Storico.

Situated next to Via Vittorio Emanuel and a short walk from the cathedral, this is a vibrant little square surrounded by old buildings. There are several restaurants and cafes and it’s a nice place to stop and have a drink or a bite to eat.

In the center of Palermo, it is must see place because of the old buildings surrounding piazza. It is very impressive. There is a restaurant with terace and artists sings here. It is an very sicilyan atmosphere.

Although almost all of buildings on this piazza are in a serious state od decline, the whole site has some unique charm.

Another example of a lovely piazza , with cafes and restaurants and a nice statue at the via Vittorio Emanuel side of it , with beautiful buildings surrounding the square : But allas - the buildings look in state of decline and in need of total refreshing . Shame .

If you are walking the trail of the tourist sights, you will pass this square about 800m down the road from the Cathedral.
Not worth a trip in its own right (unless you are going to one of the smart restaurants there) - But if you are passing its a good photo stop.

Piazza Bologni has so many elegant buildings, some are looking a little tired but that somehow adds to their charm, this especially applies to the less than perfect exterior of beautiful Palazzo Alliata di Villafranca built 16th century, it had a complete overhaul in the 18th century after an earthquake severely damaged the building. Palazzo Ugo delle Favare is another 16th century beauty in a state of decline, it still bears the scars of the 1943 bombing. A statue of Carlo V built 1631, stands toward the Via Vittorio Emanuele end of the piazza. Directly across from the statue is Palazzo Belmonte Riso, built 18th century, it is now the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sicily. This lovely little piazza is worth a look, instead of walking by.

It is easy to miss this small elegant piazza built in 1566 with several beautiful 16th century palazzos and the statue of Chares the Fifth in the middle. If you are walking from Quattro Canti into the direction of the Duomo along Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, the piazza will be on your left. It is also very atmospheric at night when illuminated.

In the heart of the historic center of Palermo, this ancient square called Piazza Bologni, an equestrian monument dedicated to Charles V stands right in the middle of the square, but this statue is the only attraction here, there's not much to see, surrounded by historic buildings all around the square.
Frankly I visited in a few minutes, just long enough to take some photos, but I assure you it is not worth wasting time here, if this is on your way, otherwise step over ..
