I enjoyed our visit to this museum, I didn't know it existed. The voicemap tour took us here. Great recommendation for the local perspective of archeology.

Definitely a must if you like history. Even the garden where nice to visit. So much to learn. Start from the top and go downwards!

I was taking the ferry from Piraeus to Hydra but had several hours to spare. Upon searching for things to do in and around Piraeus, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a museum not too far from the port. And while the museum is indeed quite small, I personally found them to have an impressive collection. As of October 2021 they required all visitors to present proof of vaccination. Because the U.S. did not have an electronic version with a QR code, I was allowed to present my COVID vaccination card from the CDC, along with my passport. That was my first museum visit in the country and it caught me a little off guard, but fortunately I had everything I needed. You should also know that visitors are required to wear face masks the entire time as well.

The collection and the size are attractive and accessible. The presentation was good, but nothing like the world's best presentations of the acropolis museum in Athens. And, the museum in Kalamata has better design and more items, many small, from time periods that are very ancient. But if you have a free hour or two in the area near the port, you will not be disappointed by a visit. Beware of cab drivers in the port area who will take you to restaurants which are a rip-off, as extremely overpriced even if the food may be good.

It was absorbing moving around the splendid array of artefacts from antiquity. Funerary stelae and sculptures abound and reflect the reverence accorded to this seminal life event.
Many stone reliefs are to be seen. A Greek pursuing a wounded Amazon who's bearing a shield is cogent, as are those of a Priest and Priestess in ritual attitude and the narrative of a Dispute between Apollo and Herakles.
Herakles with a quadriga of chariot pulled by four horses is wonderful. That portraying three nymphs in motion is another highlight.
The Piraeus Apollo in bronze is a prized sculpture and is the earliest known life-size depiction dating from around 525 BCE. It is accompanied with slightly later fine bronzes of Athena and Artemis.

You might ask why one that absolutely love museum would write this. Well to be honest, the museum itself is awesome. Yes its smaller than others, but about 50 % of all is in good condition. They have bronze statues of the Greek goddess Helena and Artemis, some of old Roman emperors like Hadrian. Also plates and a grave tomb (the grave tomb is outside)
The price is 4 euro. the lady at the counter was really friendly so you might ask what is so bad about it? well the people working there that follow you around are mostly women and are constantly talking or calling on their phone. The keep following and talking loudly as if they want to get rit of you or that you should leave the museum as fast as possible, It ruins your visit in total. When asking what route you should take, the ladies are in a really bad mood and are extremely rude. While most Greeks are polite and friendly these ladies are not.
Also note: during the covid19 regulations you need to wear a maks both inside and outside.

This museum is out of the way, and does not look like much from the outside, but it is worth the stop. Unlike most museums, they let you get close to the artifacts. Very nice place. Small but lots of interesting things to see.

Greeted by grumpy lady saying €2. Followed from room to room by an unsmiling guard, one even made a point of looking into the empty lift I had vacated, presumably to check I hadn’t left a bomb. There’s a free leaflet in English showing highlights of the museum but nowhere is there a museum plan. You need to ask unsmiling staff where the loos are. For your information there are good toilets in the basement and the all important and spectacular bronzes are on the first floor. You can access both by lift.
Despite my negative review, I’d still recommend a visit as the bronzes and sculptures are impressive so it’s worth the €2 entrance fee.

It was only 2 euros each to get in, and it was very quiet, only us and 1 other party, very small, mostly funeral monuments, nothing too exciting.
But the staff! They literally follow you around the entire museum. Not even subtle about it. Made me so uncomfortable, like they wanted you to leave.
I couldnt take the time to appreciate what was there because I was too busy focusing on the person 5 feet away literally staring at me, watching my every move. Heaven forbid you move on to the next room too quick, they panic and run after you, literally, again, not even subtle.
Now me and my boyfriend dont look threatening, just typical tourists, and I understand nothing is behind glass, but I'm hardly going to run off with a 10 foot marble statue.
Very unnecessary and VERY uncomfortable. Not even worth the 4 euros.

Hi! I am doing a project and I am supposed to make a makeshift schedule for a tourist. How long do you think this attraction would take and what are the days they are opened?

It's opened from 9 to 3 every day except Mondays. Well of course you could spend hours and hours in there, but I'd suggest you should plan for a visit of at least 2 hours.

How much does a city tour cost? There would be at least 4 of us , maybe more

Piraeus city is basically a port city, nothing much to see barring the port area, as Piraeus is an extension of Athens, as the two cities have "merged"
Port of Piraeus to Acropolis by taxi would cost about 10-14 Euro.
a city tour bus would cost about 20 Pound for an adult.
suggest you take a Ho-Ho bus & then pick the sites you want to visit by using train/cab.
do explore some website, which offer discounts for booking online & if you kids/students, additional discount.
hope i was able to answer you query.
enjoy Greece, its always warm there !
