‪We took a boat trip for € 25 from Pigadia to Saria Island - very nice route along the east coast - at that day the sea was calm but in summer normally the sea is rough because of the Meltemi wind, so be prepared that the boat ride is rough! Sari Island is fantastic for snorkelling, diving into small caves, walking around and swimming - unfortunately there was not enough time to climb up to the beautiful Agia -next time for sure! It is a great days trip to spend on a boat, swim and see Karpathos as well as Sari Island from a different view! Meal costs € 10 and is a nice grill with salad ect.. Great trip for the amount of € 35 !‬

‪We did a day trip to Saria in June 2021 with Cpt. Manolis. It was an amazing experience! We wanted to hike (3 hrs, optional) so he left us at the southest point of the island and picked us up at Palatia. To my knowledge, this is a unique site -a pirate medieval settlement that is still preserved in Greece, one of its kind! Also, don't miss out swiming in the caves and walking up the gorge to visit the abandoned village Argos. Cpt. Manolis was very generous with his time and stories, and the itinerary was perfectly organized. Strongly recommended!‬

‪We went there with Vasilis from Balaskas hotel. This was a day which we won’t forget for the rest of our life. Vasilis is unique, 70+ years old living book, local, lovely man who is always ready to share his life experiences and Karpathos stories with you.
Saria is quiet, peaceful island, with rich history, there living animals and few great bays. It is a 8+ hours long trip but sadly time goes by really quickly while sitting in a boat, staring in the blue sea with sorounded islands and listening to Vasilis’s singing. Trip also includes swimming in the caves and swimming in 2 bays. You can also choose boat trip with hiking on Saria.‬

‪Saria is a small island, separated from Karpathos with just 100 meters of the sea. You may come there only with the boat from Diafani. There are few operators that will take you on one day trip, visiting remote beaches, not really so special in comparison with the beaches on Karpathos.

The real diamond is 3 hours hiking from the south side of Saria, along the coast, to the north part. You have to tell the captain of the boat in advance that you wish to do that (some may not be willing to leave you by yourself because, those trips are usually just to get to the beach, lay down there and do nothing). However, if you are at least a bit adventurous, don't miss hiking along Saria. No people there, just olive gardens, sheeps and donkeys. You will go up and down along the hills, with an unreal view all the time.

Take a lot of water and good hiking shoes - you will not regret it. After 3 hours of hiking (easy tempo, no problem), you will reach the beach (Palatia) where the boat took others, just in time to take a refreshing swim in the sea.

Don't waste your time on the beach - go hiking on Saria!‬

‪you can go for a one day trip on a simple boat taking up to 20 people, with a simple lunch, and you will get a nice sea trip with some cave visits, then you wil get to teh island, unmanned since 40 years, with few remains including a little church. Definitely worth a visit‬

‪We took a boat trip on "Captain Nikolas" boat, we were late in 2 minutes and saw the boat leaving, they we kind enough to come and get us.
It was almost a full day, leaving in the morning and returning in the late afternoon. We booked the trip with lunch and everything was just great. The sites on the way to Saria are breathtaking, the colors of the water are unreal. When we got to Saria we had lunch - chicken BBQ, fresh salad and bread.
There is no population on Saria island, but some families keep their goats there. We had a lovely lady taking 2 goats on the ship to Saria island.
On the way back we got watermelon which was a nice surprise, and we stopped at the "Alimounda beach" from which the hotel got it's name, a beautiful spot.‬
