We opted for the snowshoe and ice fishing experience. Our guide, Petra, was incredibly knowledgeable and wanted us to have the best experience ever, which we did!
We learned so much about the native fauna and flora in the magical landscape during our walk to/from Wolf Lake. We enjoyed rustic culinary delights including Salmon soup, rye bread, and sweet cardamon bread washed down with warm juice and great coffee (tea or water) in a beautiful hunting lodge. And the fishing, WOW. So surreal to be ice fishing with panoramic views and fabulous skyline. We caught a rainbow trout which was expertly cooked for us over an open fire and shared amongst the group. Honestly nothing tastes finer than a fish you caught being cooked and served within the hour. Every sense was fully engaged and priceless memories were made.
If any of this appeals to you then you really don’t want to miss out. Book early and at the start of your trip. You will be so glad you did. We are and know we will be back again. It is a family run business that was recommended to us by several different locals. What a top tip!

We have not long returned from our holiday to Lapland, while we were there my partner wanted to take part in one of the tours. We had reindeer rides, ice fishing, lunch and snowshoeing! Our guide was Petra, such a lovely woman and has a good sense of humour. Although I was apprehensive (I don’t usually fish) I took part and really enjoyed myself! Thank you! Would definitely recommend Petra if you’re looking for something they offer while you’re in the area!

This is very unique and wonderful tour in Levi. Petra made everything possible to guarantee that we enjoyed all the activities. The forest and the lake are astonishing, and it's very impressive to know that all her family is taking care of them. We loved the ice fishing and walking through the forest, as well as a delicious salmon soup. As a former teacher, Petra knows how to explain all the information and was able to answer all our questions about the place and animals around. Great fun with an affordable price.

I have traveled to 76 countries and 7 continents, and this ranks among my all time favorite travel experiences.
First of all, the meeting place at the reindeer farm is located in a beautiful area— a real “middle of nowhere” vibe, in the best possible way.
My friend and I did the reindeer/ice fishing/snow-shoeing combo. I didn’t see this trio combined by any other outfitter.
Petra, our leader, is a real gem. She’s got a fantastic sense of humor and banters effortlessly with her guests. The entire program was perfect— nothing lasted too short or too long. Everything was just the right amount of time. Lunch was delicious too!
The reindeer are beautiful!! Sledding through the majestic winter surroundings was surreal, and something I’ll always remember. An absolutely magical experience.

At the end of November 2021 we visited Reindeer and Fishing with a total of four people. Petra was waiting for us very cheerfully. Then we went to the reindeer farm and fed the reindeer. Because there was not enough snow for a reindeer sleigh ride, Petra came up with a very nice alternative: a kicksled ride. Then we went ice-fishing and did a snow-shoe hike. Finally, a delicious lunch was provided by Petra, during which we also ate our own caught fish. Petra is super hospitable, cheerful and very funny. This in combination with the super fun activities made it a fantastic day!

We booked the reindeer ride, ice fishing and snow shoeing excursion for our family of 4. We had an absolute blast and really enjoyed ourselves!
We took a taxi from our hotel to Wolverine Fell. Petra met us at the road. We got our snow pants on and Petra gave us instructions on how to handle the reindeer sleighs. My 13 year old was in the first sleigh with Petra on skis on the back. My husband was next. Then a couple from Romania followed by myself and my 9 yr old, who shared the sleigh. We each had a wooden sleigh and one reindeer. Ours was named Flake. When it's time to go, Kael unwinds the rope, the reindeer takes off and he hands you the rope as you go by.
It was maybe a mile or so to the lake and buildings. When we arrived, we fed the reindeer and then went inside for a bit and had warm berry punch.
Then, we chose our stool and fishing rod, grabbed a hole saw and headed out to the frozen lake. The men were tasked with drilling the holes. We got the poles baited up and in the holes they went. It didn't take long before each of my kids caught a rainbow trout! Each were about 42cm long and they were thrilled! Petra took the fish over to the building and then we put on snow shoes. Petra led us into the woods and up a hill to a small clearing. We were given about 10 minutes to play around and then we were to find our way back. Being there in late November, it was starting to get dark. Finding our way back was easy and not far.
When we got back to the building, Petra was preparing the potato and fish soup and was grilling the freshly caught trout over the open fire. We had some warm berry punch and had our soup with some nice conversation. Petra told us about reindeer herding and we learned a lot.
When we were done, we headed out to ride the reindeer back to the road. Petra kindly called a taxi for us so it would be there shortly after we arrived at the road. On the way back, our reindeer was very eager to join the others, and we were last in line. When Kael untied him, he took off after the others. It was a blast! It was dark, surrounded by woods, and all you can hear is the click clack of the reindeer's hooves as we sailed through the woods. It was an experience to remember! We highly recommend spending some time with Petra at Wolverine Fell!
Note that you need to bring your own winter gear. While you go inside to warm up twice, you are outside for the majority of the time there so just prepare wisely. We had base layers, down parkas, snow pants, mittens, boots, neck buffs, wool hats.

Let me start by saying I am very late in this review. I was here with my wife back in late December 2018!..
Petra was just brilliant!...The Reindeer just gorgeous! Finnish Laplad in mid winter is a very long way from South East Queensland in its mid Summer! I cannot recall my Reindeers name, my wife had Dionysus. I highly recommend this tour, if I were back in Levi in December I would most certainly do this tour again!
I cannot recommend this highly enough!, possibly a once in a lifetime experience, but I very much hope to return one day!

HI please can I ask how long the overall activity lasts for please?
Also how many can fit in a sleigh? we would be a family of 4 (1 adult and 3 children) or a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children (including a 12 month old if they can go?)
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
Which tour do you have in mind? The most popular one consisting of a 3-km reindeer ride, ice fishing, snowshoeing and salmon soup? This one lasts approximately 4 hours, or a bit more.
You do not mention the time of the year you are planning to come or the age of the children. The question is not how many people one can fit in the sleigh, more importantly we need to see how many people can one reindeer pull, as one reindeer pulls one sleigh. Depending on the weather (snow) conditions, your size and the size of the reindeer one reindeer can possibly pull one adults with three children if they are all fairly small and if the temperature makes it easy for the reindeer to pull. One reindeer driver comes with one of the first reindeer: If the kind of the reindeer allows it and one of the three children is big (old) enough, then the one can go with someone else. Alternatively, one of the children can go with someone else from one of the other families.
As far as the other family with the one-year-old is concerned if the conditions are good one adult and two children per sleigh could be doable. It again would be great to know the age of children and the size of all of the people. To provide you with a perfect answer knowing the weather conditions on the particular day you might choose would be great.
The youngest child might need a place to take a nap. If you wish, I can bring a warm sled with a sleeping bag for the baby. It has been tested to temperatures as low as -28 degrees Celsius. In any case the baby would need to have all winter gear with mittens and woollen socks to stay warm. There is a place to warm up, but children of this age fall asleep after ice fishing at the latest. The sled can be easily pulled in the forest when the parents have the snowshoes on.
The lunch with even possibly grilled fish is served towards the end of the tour, at about 2 pm, therefore having a small snack for the children might be a good idea to keep them content.. In any case spare gloves (mittens) and woollen socks for all children are important. With so many children there will be always someone who is not well tucked in (sleaves and trouser legs). Dry everyone`s boots well overnight before coming here. This is an outdoor tour.
All in all this tour might be a busy day for the adults, but quite an experience for everyone if well equipped.
Best regards,
Petra
