Wouldn't really go out of the way to visit it, but interesting to see as part of a stroll along the river. The riverside path from Richmond towards Kew or the other way towards Petersham are both lovely.

This lock provides not only the lock facilities for boats on the Thames, but also a route for walkers across the river. Take a selfie photo in the middle. Lovely views each way

If you are interested in industrial heritage spots, the Richmond Lock and Footbridge is really nice. It dates back to 1894. You can also go for a little stroll along the Thames path. It is a lovely stretch of the path.

Take the boat from Richmond, the pier is across Gaucho Restaurant and enjoy a scenic trip on the boat. It will be open when summer arrives

Richmond lock and weir is located close to Richmond town centre and was first opened in 1894. The foot bridges are closed in the evenings. Really nice to walk down this part of the river Thames especially on clear warm afternoons.

I lived at the lock from 1959 to 1967.
My Dad Frank Brown was lock keeper at Richmond from 1959 untill 1973.
I am the only one to be married from the.lock house where the cars came down the tow path in order for me to get to the church. that was on the 19th September 1964.
Then on 3rd August 1965 my Son was born at the house, again the only one to be born at the house.
I now live in Australia but was in England this year 2017 and went back to see the lock.
The Lock keeper Mark was really good and allowed me to have a look inside the house.
Which was great ti see again after all these years.
My Father died in 1973 at the age of 49.

I always called this Isleworth Lock , as did my friends and family . It was the link between the oily slips and Wharves of Old Isleworth and Richmond . It reminds me of the hippy nests further up river on Eel Pie Island , The Who , Stones , Hawkwind , a then seedy Richmond full of squats , Wimpy chips and a girl called Janice . Janice's ambition was to become an Usherette , but she had a thing about the Water Nymphs in York House Gardens . But Water Nymphs and Usherettes live very different lives and Janice always did fancy owning an aquatic horse or two
