‪Fantastic, you would not like to miss out this attraction‬

‪You wouldn't want to miss out on top attractions like Centre Picasso i Gosol! You find it on the top floor of the village school, on the Plaça Major. Here you find a collection of ethnographic from the time that Picasso stayed in the little town in the summer of 1906, along with graphic material and reproductions to the considerable number of works that the artist made there. It present a reproductions of Picasso’s work of art live in relation to the town and the landscape that inspired him, along with original photographs and objects from the period. In a very fine way it documents Picasso's stay in the village and displays reproductions of some of the most significant works he completed during his stay here. Allow your self to get a guided tour, a fantastic and informative one. It start with a short video about the town and area back in 1906 and of course Picasso why he arrived here. The only way to reach Gósol in 1906, when Picasso traveled there in the company of Fernande Olivier, was a long and arduous mule ride. But this isolation and deeply rural atmosphere was to make a big impact on his work. Picasso was going through a period of artistic blockage, He was increasingly frustrated by the fact that he did not find a satisfactory way to complete the portrait of American art collector Gertrude Stein. When he came to Gósol he was looking for a getaway, a place where he could isolate himself from the social and artistic scene he frequented and find new sources of inspiration. The 90 days he spent in the village drove Picasso's style further into primitivism and on the path to cubism. ‬

‪Picasso spent four months in the tiny village of Gósol in 1906, during which time his style of painting became somewhat more abstract and his colour palette was dominated by ochre. The Picasso Museum (Centre) has photocopies of his paintings during this period (the originals are in various museums around the world) and some information about the paintings and his time in Gósol.

I don't think it is possible to justify a trip to Gósol solely to see the museum, nor Gósol itself, which is a unremarkable village, but the village lies within the Parc Natural del Cadí-Moixeró, which is a lovely drive from Barcelona, Puigcerda, Perpignan or Andorra.‬
