In Kalotaritissa Bay, so named after the nearby hamlet, are three not very big beaches. If one speaks of Kalotaritissa Beach one usually means the a bit larger middle one, which is also called 'Mesa Ammos' (middle sand) or 'Vlychos'. Due to the nearby settlement with a tavern free camping and nudism - just as at Stavros - are not allowed, as is written on a sign.
People, who don't feel like wearing textiles at a beach, can walk on a path for about 10 minutes to the Trypiti Beach in the same bay (for which is a separate entry at Tripadvisor). Not so clear is the situation at the smaller beach, close the the middle Messa Ammos, called 'Sapounochoma', thus 'Soap Earth' beach. All three beaches here offer no natural shade and consist of sand and small pebbles.
To get here, one can take hike No 1 from Stavros, which takes about 90 minutes. The first part, up to a saddle, is rather dull, but after that one has nice views of Kalotaritissa bay, more so if one takes the about 1 hour long detour up to Mount Papas, the islands highest peak.
When I walked around Donoussa island in September 1988 there were 4 families living in Kalotaritissa without electricity and nor road. I then wrote: 'One of the remotest places I have seen in Greece'. Now one can come by car or use the regular bus service in season, which takes 30 minutes from or to Stavros with stops near other beaches en route.

We hiked for 90 minutes along the marked trail and it took us along mountains and cliffs to this beautiful spot. Had lunch at the Tavern which makes mouth-watering lamb burgers

The main beach here is already fantastic, but if you don't mind walking a little bit, there are a couple of very beautiful beaches not far from the main one. Beautiful location and setting. Donoussa has it all!!

A remote beach, no shop or umbrellas on the beach, just a small tavern close to the main of the 3 beaches. The sea is calm even if in other locations the weather is windy. Take a bottle of water or something to bite.

We walked from Stavros/port to Kalotaritissa in about 90 minutes. Not very difficult, but make sure you have good walking shoes. Great views of the whole of Donoussa.

A mesmerising remote beach which its beauty kicks your cares and anxiety out! The absolute tranquility of the scenery, the crystal blue water and the mild sound of the sea make you feel being in paradise!

What is really a sandy beach here is a relatively small place, with some rocks next to it that can also be used for sunbathing (and swimming from). What makes this beach enchanting is the beauty of the overall setting, with the turquoise waters, the several yachts or boats strewn around, the smaller or larger islands and hills to the right and left, a small neighborhood consisting of several houses but boasting a surprisingly good taverna. All this you will find in an extremely scenic location, a large bay in the northern part of the island of Donoussa, reachable by car or the local bus on a good asphalt road.

The little small bay once you arrive is much nicer and calmer than the larger beach next to the tavern in Kalotaritissa. In any case, it is not too far and you can get your frappe and water from there in five minutes, if you want.
Even if it is in theory forbidden for nudists, this is a very relaxed location and many people do not wear swimming suits. Given the small size of the bay, on a normal day, there might be 20 people all in all enjoying the perfect calm and silence.
No racket games, no shouting kids, people whispering to each other to keep the place quiet. It has been a long time since I have relaxed this much by the sea.

Ciao,
sì si mangia bene e si spende poco. Il pesce però non ricordo di averlo mangiato.
