‪Fabulous portrait gallery, well worth the visit!‬
ספט׳ 2020
‪The château of Beauregard is one of the lesser-known castles of the Loire Valley. We decided to visit on a whim and I'm very glad we did! It’s known for its hall of portraits featuring famous historical figures (royalty, Christopher Columbus, Joan of Arc, etc.) and depicts the politics and history of Europe. The hall also has a unique floor made of delft tiles (blue and white ceramics, the largest pavement of delft in the world)! The ceiling is painted with lapis lazuli (which, at the time, was worth seven times more than gold). There are gardens that each have a color theme and the ruins of a chapel - the park is lovely for strolling around. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour (by Paul), who gave excellent explanations and really brought the history of the castle to life. Thank you!‬

‪Walking paths not wheelchair friendly, only two rooms to see from a wheelchair. Portrait gallery difficult to ready namens bad lighting. Not worth a detour. ‬

‪A lovely castle to visit‬
אוג׳ 2019 • משפחה
‪We visited this chateau this afternoon although the weather was very wet however we had a lovely afternoon. It is very easy to find and there was plenty of space to park.
It did cost us €28 which is the family price (2 adults and 2 kids under 13) which was not expensive compared to other chateaux (Amboise: €44; Gaillard: €44; Montresor: €29; Meug: €29) however I appreciate there might be less to see too.

We visited the chateau itself for an hour and a half, the best was definitely the portraits gallery! However no bedroom or outfits to see except one dress, which was a shame. We LOVED the interactive videos which take you back in time, it is fascinating and explains so much more than a documentation.

There is a cafe on site however it was closed (it closes at 4:00, which we are used to since so many cafes and tea rooms close at 4:00 in uk too!).
Outside toilets were clean.

Gardens are beautiful and well maintained, and there are so many panels with pictures & explanations in French, english and German.

We spent nearly 3 hours there. It is well
worth a visit, would recommend it to our friends and family.

‪And impressive Portrait gallery and Delft tiles‬
יוני 2019 • משפחה
‪Built in the 16th century, as a hunting lodge for king "Francois 1", it sits on 40 hectares (roughly 98 acres) with 2000 species of plants and shrubs planted in the gardins. It has been in the hands of the same family since 1926, and they still operate it. Very good visit.‬

‪Poor value, very dissapointing.‬

‪This was the final Chateau we visited on our tour and it was a shame as it left a bitter taste due to lack of facilities, poor value for money and gneral shoddiness of the house itself. One of yhe most exoensive but only three rooms open, one of which is the portrait gallery which is intersting bit you can literally do the house in 30 minutes or less. The gardens are poor, using the excuse of an ecological site, in other words left to their own devices! Brown unkept lawn areas and a small well maintained area where all the effort has gone. There was no cafe open and the house itself felt run down and I would not recommend at that price. If it was say 5-8 euros then it would have felt better value, as it was we paid well over the odds for a poor effort. Many more much more welcoming and friendly chateau experiences out there so shop around as maybe then they will up their game and maintain what they have. Something a bit depressing about this one.‬

‪Disappointing gardens‬
אוג׳ 2018 • זוגות
‪We visited this smaller Loire Chateau for its gardens but were disappointed by them, partly maybe due to it being towards the end of their season but it also felt that they were generally tired and not well maintained since their re-design some years ago. Only a few rooms open in the Chateau itself, mainly portrait galleries of old and modern paintings. When we went the cafe was also closed but we weren’t told this when we arrived at lunchtime which was annoying.‬

‪We are staying locally and had to pop in to the chateau. We did literally pop in. It took longer to walk up the drive than the visit itself. Way overpriced entrance fee given the four rooms visited. Stopped off at the cafe for three ice creams again well overpriced £12!!! The gardens could have been lovely but was in dire need of water!! ‬

‪Fabulous English Language Guided Tour‬
יולי 2018 • משפחה
‪We've noted all the recent negative reviews and were quite surprised as we had a wonderful visit to this much more modest Chateau near Cellettes. We visited on bikes and enjoyed a quiet stroll through the somewhat more rustic grounds (compared to the manicured grandeur of some of the others in the region.) We particularly enjoyed the "colour portraits" garden and the walk through the forest which was populated with reproductions of some of their famed portraits with entertaining English signage which was a good crash course in European continental history for we anglophones.

But the real highlight was the English language tour (included in the price) which we just lucked onto with the fabulous Alexane. She took us through the public rooms (don't forget, this is still a lived in building) and her knowledge and enthusiasm just made the place come alive. She was particularly good with our 11 and 13 year old daughters and obviously took a real delight in talking about the building and how it fitted into local and national French history. What ever you're paying her, pay her more! I guess without this some of the building would have been quite impenetrable, particularly the amazing but quite dense portrait gallery the place is renowned for. But these one star reviews?! Get a grip.

2 thumbs up from us.‬

‪Small and unusual‬

‪Pretty and small Chateau. Run by the owners. Several interesting facts by the current owner . Unusual portrait room with a hundred or so portraits of the people that made things happen when the House was a place to be. One room is full of dog pictures. ‬

‪A jewel in the Loire‬
ספט׳ 2017
‪I was appalled to read the poor reviews left in English. It is true it may be a bit more expensive than Cheverny (I have not been) but the pleasure I had to see a well displayed history of an exceptional site was worth every penny. The portrait gallery is a sort of 17th century 'Hello Magazine' everybody famous and many forgotten people are there. It is true that very few rooms are open to the public but what there is of great quality and originality. It is intimate and quiet. I am so sorry that I had too little time. I will be back.‬
