‪Place by any means worth to visit.
Architectonical form is absolutely unique. It doesn’t make such impression from outside but after first step in you will be astonished.
Rectangular building supported by one single column with capital in form of palm. The only thing in the world I suppose. But there is more. Palm “leafs” create kind of “nest”. This nest was supposed to be the place where hermit lived.
Everyone who wants to see this place must also visit Tourist Office in Berlanga de Duero. There it is possible to buy ticket to Multimedia Centre where are provided information about hermitage. Really worth to see.‬

‪Eleven kilometers southeast of Berlanga de Duero on SO 152 lies the unique hermitage of a saint who few remember today. The chapel lies away from the road halfway up a hillside. The rude exterior, reflecting the troubled and dangerous times in which the hermitage was built, hides where once hung an astounding series of now faded frescoes painted not long after the building was completed. These frescoes were sold in 1921 by the residents of a neighboring village and now hang in four museums in the United States and in the Prado Museum. Entrance is free but there is a caretaker who will take you through the church. Despite the absence of the frescoes there is still much to see.‬

‪It was my second visit of this very old shrine, where the visitor can see frescos on the walls and the exotic palmtree central column, besides other arabic shapes‬

‪This little church tucked up its little valley is well worth a visit, we had heard it was painted etc, but it's something really special. Obviously, it's a travesty that huge chunks of its paintings were sold to the Prado and then on to America, but there is still plenty left to look and marvel at, and you can imagine what it must have been like. The architecture of the church alone is worth the visit, with its moorish style. It's free to enter too, and opening times are:

Abril, Mayo, Septiembre y Octubre 10:00 a 14:00h y 16:00 a 19:00h. Junio a Agosto 10:00 a 14:00h y de 17:00 a 21h. Noviembre a Marzo 10:00 a 14:00h y 15:30 a 18:00h. Domingos y Festivos 10:00 a 14,00h. Lunes y Martes Cerrado

The nice man will pop out of his hut down the road when he sees a car pull up and open up for you!‬

‪If you are in the area, then come here. Church is a unique mix of styles, feeling rather more like a mosque than a church.
Frescos in their day would have been superb but sadly much has been moved to museums and you can only wonder at it's former splendor.
Spend a moment up on the hill to listen to the wind and watch as birds, including large raptors, pass by. ‬

‪This is a fascinating small Hermitage built in the 12th Century by the Moors and Christians together, with architecture and murals that evoke both Faiths. Check open days before going.‬

‪We were told to see this in Casillas de Berlanga (very small town), but we found nothing there. Thank goodness that some hikers directed us to it (leaving Casillas) to the right. The man in charge of San Baudelio told us that the paintings were done by Catholics expelled from the city of Cordoba in the 10th or11th century. Very interesting.‬
