‪Amazing place. Just a shame they insisted on masks being worn at ALL times, even when outside clambering up flights of steps which meant glasses misted up all the time! Bit OTT even in these worrying times as there weren't many visitors so social distancing was easy. But a really fascinating place to explore. A fabulous example of castle architecture with many unique features. Highly recommended even if you have to wear a mask!‬

‪This is an impressive ruin and worth the visit if, as I did, you trip over it by accident but I am not too sure it would be worth driving miles out of your way to find it.

There is a car park at the top of the hill and just outside the entrance that can easily be missed, as I did. The walk up from the main road would do justice to a mountain goat it is so steep, in fact even the staff in the ticket office have complained about it, so be warned.

At 9.50e (Sept 19) the entrance fee is as steep as the climb!‬

‪l found this castle interesting as you could actually see that people had lived there in the past. it is in a beautiful setting and worth having a look at if you're in this area staying for a visit.‬

‪What a great place to visit, the staff are oh so helpful and thoughtful, one of our party had walking difficulty and they bent over backwards to help, the young will love it many stairs and narrow passages and great views. They put on events and that’s the time to come and experience the place.‬

‪Really worth a visit but it is very isolated and quite a climb from the road. Very interesting. Closed rather early in the afternoon.‬

‪Phenomenal Ruined Castle to Explore‬

‪The great thing about ruined castles is that you can usually go everywhere and discover things on your own. This castle is no exception. It is so interesting to explore, with lots of levels, caves, stairs, and a rooftop view. We only had a hour here because the signage on the roads is terribly misleading (we lost at least 45 minutes trying to find the castle) and we arrived right before closing. We wish we had another hour or more to truly do this castle justice. It was fantastic! Especially the caves. ‬

‪This would be one of the highlights of our holiday, a fascinating castle with so much to see. All the important parts are numbered so it is impossible to miss anything. For those with mobility issues there are a lot of steps and walking so it is something to beat in mind. There is free car park at the base of the castle near the only public toilets.‬

‪ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING AND WE HAVE SEEN DOZENS!‬

‪Truly a highlight of our most recent trip to the region. A true feat of engineering given its many levels both above ground and below. Beautiful views as it is set high on a hill overlooking the valley. Fantastic!‬

‪Took the family to see Bonaguil Castle, drove from Toulouse and was well worth it. It was authentic with breathtaking views.

Although it is small, it has all the elements there and mostly still intake sysoou can explore it all. And not too large that the kids loose interest.

From Toulouse we went via the medieval town of lauzerte which really topped off the day. ‬

‪This castle is tucked away up a lush valley off the main road and is worth the effort. Its a remarkable example of this type of structure sitting atop a rocky hill. The self guided tour is well set out and provides a good representation of the workings of a village at the time. It also provides an insight into the carnage that occurred at the time of the French revolution. It is anticipated that more restoration will occur over the years as is currently being undertaken around the chapel. This is a visit well worth the effort.‬
