‪See the advanced phase of the Moche culture: how they lived and how they worked‬
ספט׳ 2019
‪When the Spanish arrived they immediately melted all the Inca gold and they often overlooked these huacas, mistaking them for mountains. Later when people discovered all these huacas were burial pyramids full of rich tombs, they were looted. So almost all the So. American gold and metal objects we see in museums around the world are Sicán gold and metal artwork not Inca (as advertised). This is a continuation of the Moche culture from 700ad to 1300ad with some new features and one is their skill in metal work and art. The other is their pottery is mainly black with a high polish.
In addition to the magnificent gold and metal head dresses, funeral masks etc. I especially like that this museum shows us HOW this culture built their homes, how they melted the gold, copper and silver, how they made their pottery and HOW they built these huge huacas from handmade adobe bricks.

The museum is totally in Spanish so either read up a bit before going or take an English speaking tour. There was no English guide available at the museum.‬

‪Take collectivo or a mini bus‬
לבד • אוג׳ 2018
‪This is not very interesting museum. Visit only if you have 3 hours to spare. Everything in the museum is in Spanish. The best part was a collectivo ride there. You can take a collectivo from Terminal Epsel. I was charged 3 soles to get there and 2 soles when I returned. The bus stops right in front of the museum. ‬

‪Interesting stuff, but presentation needs work‬
פבר׳ 2018
‪This museum has a lot of potential as the articles inside are really interesting, but there is not much commentary, and what there is, is in Spanish only.‬

‪Part of a Sivan tour‬
זוגות • ינו׳ 2018
‪Extremely well preserved artifacts and really interesting. Do the whole tour so you also get to see where they have found the artifacts.
We went with Mocha tours and had an extremely good guide called Carmen.
However at the museum we were not allowed to bring any items with us not even a small handbag with your purse. So all is left in the van with the driver. There was one in our group who didn’t want to come with us into the museum and wanted to stay and rest in the car. I did not like the idea him being alone in the back of the van with all our belongings. But the driver did not like it either and kicked him out of the van and he then left. Very suspicious. You should be aware if someone in your group stays behind in the van with your belongings except the driver. ‬

‪Not as good as the LP claims ‬
זוגות • דצמ׳ 2017
‪We went there because the Lonely Planet talks about it highly so we thought it was worth a visit. Well, it was disappointing. They have two replicas of important and beautiful tombs yet there is no explanations or descriptions (not even in Spanish). I guess compared to the stunning Tumbas Reales of Lambayeque it's hard to find a real interest in it. If you've been to Lambayeque and Huaca Rajada, skip this one. ‬

We went directly from Huaca Rajada - Sipan to Ferreñafe without passing through Chiclayo and it took approx. 1 hour. From Chiclayo it takes approx. 45 min. in arriving by car, the signage is not good so the use of Google Maps facilitates the arrival. It can also be reached by public transport, but it takes a little longer.

We went with family with younger children and had fun and learned a lot.

A modern and well built museum, so large that there seems to be few things to see but it is not like that, it presents all the grandeur of the Lambayeque Culture, the archaeological sample is very good and you can see lots of gold pieces very well preserved, as well as huacos and other remains.

The Lambayeque were great in Metallurgy, which can be appreciated in this Museum.

It is very particular how they buried their Lords the Sican and the representation in the Museum is very good.

The visit to the Museum lasts around 1:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. depending on the pace you impose.
The cost for admission to the museum is 2.50 dollars per adult and 0.35 cents of dollar per child.
Photo shooting is allowed.‬

‪Visit to get a feel for Sican culture‬
אוג׳ 2016
‪We visited here after visiting Batan Grande which gave us some context for where the artefacts we were looking at were found. The museum is nice but is not as big as the Lord of Sipan museum. It is still worth a visit though especially as you have to go past it on the we back to Chiclayo from Batan Grande.‬

‪Important depositary of Lambayeque artifacts‬
זוגות • אוג׳ 2016
‪In this Japanese looking edifice , funded by the er...Japanese in the 1990's, there are many rooms with especially fine, probably the best Lambayeque culture artifacts. This culture which flourished around 1000 AD around Chiclayo is not so well represented in other museums, so don't miss this one which has the best. Combine it with a visit to the Lambayeque Huacas at Batan Grande for example to get the culture (which flourished some 400 years after the Moche) into perspective. Hire a English speaking guide to take you to both sites (eg Orlando or Carmen from Moche tours) to put everything into perspective as labelling is a bit haphazard. ‬

‪Do not miss this museum...‬
לבד • דצמ׳ 2015
‪This is a very nice compact modern museum dedicated to the Sican civilization. It has a marvelous display of finds from two noblemen tombs discovered at Batan Grande. Beautiful pieces jewelry, breast plates, masks and headdresses in gold and copper. Especially interesting was the depiction of the tombs, the occupants and the contents. Also interesting was the information that the noblemen used a red face powder to show status, yet which contained lethal mercury. All the exhibits very well laid out. A very nice gem in Ferrenaffe. All the signage is is Spanish -- I had a guide. Well worth a visit.‬

‪My wife and I visited this museum with a guide. We really enjoyed it. Very educational with some great artifacts. Well worth our time. If you have the time, I would combine this visit with the Sipán Royal Tombs Museum and the Túcume Archeological Complex.‬
