‪Birdlife, big trees, and ruins near Ferrenafe‬
לבד • נוב׳ 2016
‪Kind of a hot dry place to visit during the dry season, but still lots of bird life, the arbor milenario, huaca El Oro. The Bosque de Pomac is unique in showing what the coastal plain looked like. The 6000 hectare forest is split by the rio de leche, as Pizarro called it. The tip about bringing binocs is a great one, I saw at least a dozen new bird species and several more I had only seen once or twice.‬

‪Nice to combine architectural history with a nature reserve. Go on a private tour or take a driver and guide. We were the only tourists at Batan Grande - there is only one Huaca open to the public, but the guide explained the construction methodology and layout. It can get dusty and hot with biting wasps that look like flies. Fine birdwatching and you can go on walking trails. I heard that riding is also an option through the reserve. It's a nice outing but not as impressive archaeologically as Tucume for example‬

‪If you come to Lambayeque, you have to take few hours of your time for visiting this place. This is THE place where almost all the archeologist discoveries took place in this area. They offer you guided tours to contemplate the magic of nature with all those genuine birds, animals, the millenian tree and of course, the anciant tombs of their ancestors. This place is close to the museum where you can see all the value objets were found there.‬

‪This 'forest' is one of the few remaining large areas of intact dry-forest. It's well run and maintained too! I had an excellent day birding here.‬

‪Lively dry forest wood‬
לבד • ספט׳ 2014
‪There is very little of the original dry forest left, due to irrigation most of it disappeared about a 1000 years ago. This national sanctuary houses some of the remaining dry forest, as well as a 500 year old tree and several mud-brick pyramids. The dry forest is a haven for birds, squirrels and other small animals. On my short 1 hour tour I saw one fox, 2 squirrels and tons of birds. If you are short of time you can take a motocar tour which takes you to the pyramids, one of which you can climb, but there is also a 6 hour walking route to the pyramid and bag. At least 1 walking route was new, and they are opening another walking route within the next year.‬
