‪Here's something, but I didn't see felted shoe factories as a must see on my travel routes... Until my visit to the ancient Volga region town of Gorodets!!! But first things first!!! Our tour of the rainy and windy Gorodets began from the Tseremonov swamp and smoothly “flowed” onto one of the most interesting urban “arteries” of the city - Andrey Rublev Street. Walking under umbrellas, which the wandering wind tried to turn inside out, we diligently “absorbed” our guide’s information about the houses rising here and there. The latter were cute, some were even original, which forced us to periodically aim the lenses of our trusty mobile phones and cameras at them. And suddenly, into the guide’s speech, which was replete with words for the cuteness, cuteness, and originality of the facades of the small houses, the phrase “felt shoe factory” was wedged in... The latter was clearly dissonant with the ancient appearance of the town and made the brains and attention wake up. As it turned out, in a series of residential buildings on Andreerublevskaya street at number 15, there was a two-story stone structure “in the basement” (not a separate house, but a whole complex, I would say), which, to be honest, was not particularly dissonant with the surrounding almost village buildings. As our guide explained, this is the building of the former “Valeno-shoe factory of G.S. Krasavin - S.Yu. Gotovyakhin", which now houses the city printing house. If we talk about the architecture of the building, then we have before us a well-preserved example of eclecticism, namely its so-called “brick style”. The history of the appearance of this production facility almost in the very “heart” of the historical center of the city is interesting. In the middle of the 19th century, a peasant from the village of Kirilovo, Gavriil Stepanovich Krasavin, who “made his money” by trading bread, decided to try his hand at a new type of business - felting felt boots and making boots. For this purpose, he bought a plot of land on Paninskaya Street (current Andrei Rublev), where a felted shoe factory was built around the second half of the 19th century. The choice of the future shoemaker regarding the land plot was due to the fact that Gavriil Stepanovich himself owned the house, the current address of which is Naberezhnaya Revolyutsii Street No. 11 (it now houses the “Terem of the Russian Samovar” museum). Quite often this nice building is called the house of the merchant Grishaev. I believe that this is not entirely objective: initially the house, after all, belonged to G.S. Krasavin, and only then was bought by the merchant (in some sources - employee) Mikhail Ivanovich Grishaev, so it would be historically correct to call this object “Residential building with interiors by G.S. Krasavina - M.I. Grishaeva, end of the 19th century.” But let's return to our factory for the production of felt boots. I don’t know for what reason, but the original owner of the production in 1915 decided to get rid of this asset and sold the plant to the Kostroma peasant Savely Egorovich Gotovyakhin. It was the latter who completed the construction of the factory complex, which is why the facility bears a “double name.” The building of the Gorodets felted shoe factory G.S. Krasavin - S.Yu. Gotovyakhina is an architectural monument of regional significance and will certainly interest lovers of factory architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Do not miss!!!‬

‪Гуляя по городу обратила внимание на старинный дом светло бежевого цвета, особенно понравилось оформление ворот. Дом построен в начале 20 века и является образцом «кирпичного стиля», одним из направлений в архитектуре эклектики.‬
