‪Incontournable‬

‪This is a must visit museum when visiting Mali. It’s set inside a large leafy green garden with replicas of the most important monuments in Mali (separate entrance fee).

The museum has three sections: with the textiles and mask and statues sections bring especially good. I spent about two hours taking in the displays (French only) and having a fresh fruit juice at the clean cafe.

There is also a souvenir shop.‬

‪Pretty place to see‬
נוב׳ 2019 • לבד
‪The entrance is really cheap. The place is small an the displays are small too, you can see it in an afternoon. The thing is that the displays are awesome, some beautiful masks and wood carvings, a small representation of a temple and displays of textiles. Incredible place to see. No photos inside allowed.‬

‪Improving; keep it up!‬

‪This museum has come a LONG WAY from when I first visited in the 80s. I really think every visitor to Mali should go there. But some of the displays are so far from the aisle where you observe them that there's no way to read the notes, esp. in subdued lighting. I also looked for some ancient pottery from Timbuktu which a friend donated to the museum, with the promise that he would be credited for provenance. Never found it. There was a section closed off to set up a new display or whatever, so it was good to see that it's a work in progress. Be sure to walk around the park outside. There are scale models of some old forts and other structures. They also have a pretty good souvenir shop.‬

‪Great History ‬

‪This Museum provides great history of Mali. The only issue is that its kind of small and nothing is in English so my driver had to translate using Google Translate 🤷🏾‍♀️‬

‪Worth the visit!‬

‪Not huge, but a beautiful presentation of fine objects and well worth the visit! An informative textile exhibition and particularly interesting galleries with masks and carvings by the many peoples of Mali. ‬

‪A bit run down but with some intresting displays...‬
דצמ׳ 2018 • לבד
‪The museum is set in some very impressive, however a bit run down buildings and boasts three different wings focusing on archeological finds, woodcarvings and masks and textiles. The wood carving section, to me is the most interesting. A funny thing in the archeological section though is that the displays in the back are difficult to understand since their information signs are to far away to read...
Photography is prohibited and there is a well stocked curio/souvenir shop not to be missed. Also there are some miniature models of famous Malian buildings in the park outside.
And OMG what a sad reminder this museum is about the inaccessibility of Dogonland. My I would have loved to go there. That is a real bummer.‬

‪Good presentation of cultural history‬

‪Opening times 9:00 - 18:00, closed on Mondays

The museum consists of different sections, covering archaeological findings, masks, and textile. The scale model of the Tombouctou mosque is very well made.

During my visit, there was in another building a temporary exhibition ( la 11e édition de la biennale bamakoise de photographie et de vidéo)‬

‪Good Place to Visit in Bamako other than National Zoo Park. It is located near the National zoo Park.‬

‪Parlez-vous français?‬

‪Located very close to the greenest part of the city – the gardens and the zoo. In-fact all three of them located right next to each other can be visited in one go. Convenient huh? There is a big collection of artefacts, textiles and statues. The biggest limitation is that all the descriptions are in French. So if you don’t know the language – good luck!‬

‪Very interesting and well maintained ‬
יוני 2017 • חברים
‪I visited the museum during our visit of the Parc and found it very well maintained, very interesting to get to know the history and culture of Mali. They had a special expo on Malian textile which was well worth the visit. A definite must see.‬
