This started off as an excellent service. It appears now to simply be a cash cow for the owners. There has been a significant drop off in the service even though they have new facilities.
The buses taking passengers from airport to Mahera beach no longer have functioning air conditioning and neither do the boats taking passengers to Freetown as used to be the case. At the Mahera terminal, the only beverage available was water. There was no facility to buy drinks as used to be the case. Cold waster used to be provided on the boat but no longer is.
Seacoach appear to have an effective monopoly probably because it used to be excellent in its customer service. It is now a slicker operation but far less comfortable for passengers. It certainly is not worth $45 per person per trip and I will look at alternatives next time

The sea boats are never on time meaning i am going to be late for my place. I asked for a manager and they just laughed at me and were not bothered. If you’re not from Sierra Leone you get treated like you’re stupid by the staff. Also the odd begger inside while you sit to wait.
If you’re not from Sierra Leone do not use Sea Coach. The staff should all be sacked and new management as they have terrible attitudes.
When i asked to speak to the Manager they kept sending me from one end to the other.
DO NOT USE SEA COACH.
There is other options for you.
I will be using my social media platform to let the British Public know this also

Used the Sea Coach a few times in the past couple of years and have been pleased with the service. Perhaps some better facilities at the Lingi side would help

Very professional teal, everything was smooth and on time, my trip back was early morning, and the taxi driver was trying to charge me way more than the normal fare.
The team were very helpful in making the driver take the usual nighy taxi fair from the hotel to aberdeen.

Very nice and comfortable transport to the airport. They had a big TV to watch too. The crew was very nice. It was a smooth ride.

I have used sea coach for several years. The price has recently increased by $5 each way but the service worse.
Improvements include the road from airport to Mahera terminal which is no longer a dusty dirt based bumpy road. Also the waiting area at Mahera beach has been upgraded. The staff who welcome and announce safety measures on board are pleasant.
Downsides are multiple: The boat journey is worse. There is no longer Wi-Fi available to enable contact with the main land when one eventually boards the boat (timing of this is unpredictable). There is no longer air conditioning on the boat which makes the journey (35-40 mins) quite uncomfortable on a hot day. Free water is no longer given
Finally there is no reason to make passengers leave Freetown terminal over 5 hours before their flight and end up having to wait 4 hours at Lungi airport after security with nothing to do and exorbitant food and drink prices.
Surely there can be better coordination with flight times as this is the main reason why passengers use Sea Coach.
It is certainly not value for money but there is little feasible competition and they know it!

Never in my years of travel have I been treated like this. I asked all the workers to stop yelling and the head manager refused to listen to me when I asked him to stop saying my husband was unintelligent and then the yelling continued to escalate. This same manager told my husband to f*** off. The whole place was yelling and the way we were treated was rude and not at all acceptable.

If I could give this a lower rating, I would whatever you do, do not take seacoach! One of the scariest and craziest experiences I’ve ever had traveling. I arrived Sierra Leone at 2 AM. My hotel had previously arranged in seacoach for me. We waited four hours before we got off the island because this seacoach People kept telling us they didn’t want to take our bags out in the rain to the boat. When we went outside to look there was no boat. The boat was on the other side and we did not reach the mainland until after 6 AM. Apparently they were on the other side, waiting for a person. After returning to the US, I received a WhatsApp message from a seacoast employee, saying that my bill was not paid by the hotel. Before I even had a chance to contact the hotel and verify any of this. I was getting calls from the employee at 3:30 AM. I immediately turned off my phone. When I woke up the next morning, he left me threatening messages, saying you would blackmail me to pay the seacoach fee, and post negative things about me on social media. This is the most unprofessional and scary experience I’ve ever had and I would encourage you to use the other that also provides ride from the airport

My rating here could have been Zero if it was allowed. As we still have to rely on water crossing from the airport to the capital, there are only a couple of options open to you to make it across in half the time it would take to get across by ferry. The sea coach has to be by far the most terrible and I can’t say how disappointed I am that they treat their customers so shabbily. Having flown for hours and for some, up to 14/15, sea coach staff have this uncanny knack to keep you waiting even longer to get across and there is No apparent reason why! Efficiency is not their mantra and rather they focus on greed and profitability, by keeping people waiting, often for 2 hours or longer, for a crossing that lasts less than 30 minutes, all for the sake of selling their drinks.
They don’t seem to care and I wish in time someone else would invest on adding to the competition and show them how it’s done. Perhaps one of the larger hotels could add this to their packages to outdo these existing companies. I was extremely disappointed with the service.

Hi, does anyone have the schedules for departures? I’m landing at Lungi airport at 5am and will be needing a ferry to Freetown at this time?

The speed boats take off within 1 hr of your exit from the airport arrival halls.
If you prefer the ferry, it moves at 6am towards Freetown
