‪Hidden gem in Jaffa‬
חברים • ינו׳ 2020
‪This was my first visit to a Russian Orthodox church and didn’t know what what to expect before walking in.

The inside is impressive and definitely worth visiting to see a church with every single inch of the walls and ceiling decorated with paintings directly on them or paintings hung on the wall.

Don’t miss walking through the gardens and down to Tabitha’s tomb either.‬

‪When you visit Jaffa don't miss this wonderful church. It is a real gem, and a curiosity as it is a Russian Ortodox church.‬

‪Fantastic‬

‪This Russian Orthodox Church is supposedly situated on the site of Tomb of St.Tabitha. Much of the iconography in and around the church is therefore dedicated to her and of course St.Peter how supposedly raised her from the dead through prayer.

This church has gone to great lengths to make clear that it's not a tourist destination, so best to visit modestly dressed and treat the visit with respect. There's some amazing artwork inside the church and of course you can pray to St Tabitha either at her statue or tomb.‬

‪Beautiful gardens and very special atmosphere to pray‬
לבד • דצמ׳ 2015
‪The beautiful gardens surrounding the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Peters and Tabitha’s Tomb is a unique place to commemorate Peter’s raising of Tabitha from the dead (Acts 9:36-43), and to pray in a rarified old-world atmosphere. Take note that this is not a tourist attraction (nor pretend to be), but a place for praying and reflection, and as such should be visited. Proper attire is requested, and women are normally covered.
The walls and ceiling of this nineteenth-century temple are covered with beautiful murals and icons.During service hours the liturgy is chanted by a hidden choir of women that help to convey a holy atmosphere to the place. I visited on Sunday morning at 7:30 am and the service had already started, it continued up to 9 am.
The church is located in the Abu Kabir neighborhood east of Old Jaffa, and it is a remain of peace inside a somewhat industrial area full of distribution warehouses (not specially attractive nor interesting), but the church really is. The entrance is located on a side lane (Ofer Cohen Street) south of Kibbutz Galuyot Street.‬

‪Stunning‬

‪The Russian Orthodox church in Abu Kabir (aka : St Peter's & St Tabeetha church ,
aka : Russian Provoslave Moskovia ) , is located within the newly renovated " Park Hakhurshot " (Woods Park ) , in southern Tel Aviv near the Abu Kabir neighborhood .
The whole coplex is fenced off and smallish , but serene , stunning and beautifully maintained.
Google up this site and get into israel-in-photos.com .
Don't miss a stroll in the quiet Woods Park , with its eco-pond and bird observation hut .
There's free parking outside the park .‬
