‪Beautiful large opera house on Tbilisi's main street.We booked tickets well in advance and saw Don Quixote performed by the amazingly talented Georgian Ballet. Dancing was of the highest standard and similar to what you might expect at the best Russian houses. The ballet director, Nina Ananiashvili, was a leading principal with the Bolshoi and American Ballet Theatre. There are a number of bars serving wine beer and snacks at reasonable prices. Would very highly recommend this experience.‬

‪he Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi formerly known as the Tiflis Imperial Theater, situated on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, Georgia.Founded in 1851, Tbilisi Opera is the main opera house of Georgia and one of the oldest such establishments in Eastern Europe.Since its foundation, the theater has been damaged by several fires and underwent major rehabilitation works under Soviet and Georgian leadership, the most recent restoration effort concluded in January 2016, having taken six years for completion.The opera house is one of the centers of cultural life in Tbilisi and was once home to Zacharia Paliashvili, the Georgian national composer whose name the institution has carried since 1937. The Opera and Ballet Theater also houses the State Ballet of Georgia under the leadership of internationally renowned Georgian ballerina Nina Ananiashvili. I was lucky to be in Tbilisi at the right time and on Saturday(16/9/2023) saw the Georgian play "" Abesalom and Eteri " with the cost of the cheapest ticket being 20 GEL.There was subtitles in English language on top of the stage curtain hoarding board facing the stage akin to the screen in a theatre , something i saw for the first time in my life and hence understood this opera‬
