The highest power house in the state. was run by the erstwhile Travancore Dynasty during the colonial days .after independence and accessing two more princely states of Cochin and Malabar Kerala state was formed and Government used the building since then for state rule. All ministers and Highest officials of respective head of departments sit in the office and steer the government with The chief minister as head..
The old building has went age furniture and wooden floors. the assembly hall has been shifted to a new premises but the old " durbar hall " has its elegance and royalty. the building itself is build in Roman architecture .

The Kerala Government Secretariat shifted to new premises but still the Roman and Dutch style heritage building complex stands as a landmark in the heart of the town. The main building was constructed by the Maharaja of Travancore in the year 1939 and was called Puthen Kacheri which was renamed in 1949 as the Government Secretariat. The two other blocks were constructed on both sides of the main building and the center block (Durbar Hall) is now venue for State ceremonies and meetings. I have visited the Secretariat from my childhood and even today the building and premises are maintained properly. The architectural excellence of the building is praiseworthy.

This is the old building where the Secretariat of Kerala was functioning till it was shifted to the new premises. This was originally used by the King's. This is a landmark and the city centre.

The guide in the palace had mentioned us about the secretariat. When we passed through the road, the driver of our car mentioned that we were passing through the Kerala Government Secretariat. The old heritage has not been modified. It gives a very good look even from the road!

This is the place where the government officials sit from Chief ministers to all the VIP's that rule the state ..The building itself is historic and iconic. This building showcases trivandrum everywhere. You can see protesters siting in front of secretariat fighting for there rights.. Good place to learn about democracy and city life and how the locals live in this small city. Not a tourist place, but a good place to understand the life of locals and how the state system works

It is at the heart of the city and nerve centre of Kerala govt. The architecture of the building is so beautiful. Even if you cant go inside with security restrictions, it is good experience to see it from outside. You can also see the numerous people on protest outside there. Yes democracy is thriving!!!!!

Kerala Government Secretariat is in the centre of Trivandrum city. It is a land mark for locals in Trivandrum. The premises are very big and well maintained. The surroundings and building are very beautiful and clean. The buildings are more than 130 years old.
