This temple is in heart of city. very easy to reach if you are not stuck in traffic jam. best time to visit is in evening. temple itself is very energetic and powerful. Bhairav and aadi Bharav figures are for darshan which are offered Non Veg food and Alcohal as an offering.

Temple was crowded but managed well. We visited this ancient and beautiful temple of Kaal Bhairav in Varanasi through several narrow lanes and several dievrsions during kumbh mela after visiting Vishwanath temple.

Temple Is Good but Nearby Vendors and Pujari's are ready Ruin your Experience
Lanes are very narrow and queue system needs to be improved.
Note : Please don't buy anything from the Nearby shops they will charge you thrice of the Price for no reasons. Buy from distant vendors.

We visited this ancient and beautiful temple of Kaal Bhairav in Varanasi after visiting Vishwanath temple. Kaal Bhairav is regarded as Rakshak of Kashi. Temple was crowded but managed well.

In by lanes. About 200 mtrs walk from main road. Have to park car around main road only. During sawan month, the lane well decorated during this month. But unorganised set up. Narrow entrance and exit. Crowded this month.

I have visited Kasi Kalabhairava temple during evening on 12, March 2023. I had an unpleasant experience of the visit.
There was heavy rush of pilgrims entering the temple. The security personnel posted there are quite helpful.
I was travelling in a group of seven. Due to medical reasons, I was unable to walk independently and was depending on other group members for walking. Considering my medical condition, the security personnel allowed us to enter the temple through the back gate. At the gate, a corner shop keeper threatened our other group members not to enter. As we proceeded inside, a person at the corner shop, without our permission, started offering the blessings to the members using a danda of peacock feathers. At the end, he started demanding a large amount of money for his services. We had to bargain a lot but still paid him a significant amount. This gave a painful experience.
The inner temple is surrounded by an elevated platform attached to the outer boundary. The elevated platform is occupied by a number of shop keepers offering their services. The elevated platform has considerable depth, which is not essential for the services offered by the shopkeepers. Only, a narrow path is available between the elevated platform and the temple for the pilgrims to circumvent the temple.
The concerned authorities should take appropriate steps to control the high handedness of the shop keepers and their ruthless fleecing of money from devotees, possibly by using full CCTV coverage of the shop keepers.
Also, the concerned authorities should look into the possibility of reducing the depth of the elevated platform while leaving limited space for the shop keepers. This will provide more walking space for the pilgrims going around the temple.

Well as per the history of this temple, Baba Kal Bhairav is Kotwal (Chief police officer) of all creation and also the city of Kashi (Varanasi). So you got to visit this temple foremost before anything else and take due permission for not only visiting the city but for your sheer mortal existence. One of the oldest temple of Varanasi, the temple of Baba Bhairav is always crowded by hoards of devotees and the shopkeepers close to the entry also act as crowd controllers :), thanks to them!. There are also various religious men inside who one should use discretion with, they give you blessings and if you are not careful can also make you feel lighter on your wallet.
ProTip: Just go, pray and more on. Don't worry too much about offerings or what someone else may say. People with very young kids, may want to be extra careful because of the rush.

Visited Kaal Bhairav temple in the evening. Kaal Bhairav is known as nagar kotwal of Varanasi and hence must seek permission before entering Varanasi. We visited this temple first and by the grace of Bhairav baba our entire trip was well managed and obstacle free. We were able to have great darshan of Bhairav Baba and offered puja. It took us slightly more than an hour at the temple.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Varanasi. Situated in Bharonath, Vishweshwarganj (Varanasi), this temple has great historical and cultural importance for Hindus especially amongst the locals. The temple has a fierce form of Shiva which wears a garland of skulls and carries a club of peacock feathers. The word "Kaal" means both "death" and "fate". It is believed that even death is afraid of Kaal Bhairav.
The main temple has a silver faced idol of Kal Bhairav who is seated on his vahana, a dog and is holding a trident. Only the face of the icon decorated with garlands is visible to the visitors through the doorway. Rest of the idol is covered with a piece of cloth. On the rear door of the temple, there is an icon of Kshetrapal Bhairav, another aspect of Bhairava.
The temple opens at 5.00 am and closes at 1.30pm , then again opens at 4.30pm and closes in the night at 9.30pm.

I plan to offer puja at Batuk Bhairav Mandir on Sunday. May I know the best timings please. Also where can I buy puja samagri? I'm hoping some shops will be there nearby.

What is the Black Thread toes on the wrist available at this temple called? The thread is also available in different colours, any shopkeeper references please advice

Hi... These threads are basically tied for hands for legs to avoid black magic, etc etc.. It's all a perception and many vendors started commercialising this concept and started business in various colours /colourful threads...Threads won't do any magic...Have belief in the Supreme..Pray to lord Bhairav.. Stay blessed.
