‪It is a veritable wonderland of musical instruments from many parts of the world and helpful friendly staff. The displays are well labeled and the English leaflet and audio guide was very helpful. Some of the museum is hands on. You can listen to some of the instruments on headphones as you walk around. There is a bit of history about the development of some of the instruments. There is quite a large collection of European keyboard instruments from familiar pianos to less well known ones like a spinet and related instruments like a dulcimer. Really well worth a visit of 3 to 4 hours for music enthusiasts.‬

‪This city is the home of Yamaha Pianos, so we had to check out the Music Museum. They have an amazing array of instruments -- pianos and so much more! The staff are friendly and polite and they have pamphlets with a wealth of knowledge in English and several other languages.

The staff have researched and collected instruments from all over the world. Headphones are provided so visitors can hear the sounds of a variety of instruments being played. The very primitive Scottish bagpipes caught my attention!

Several times daily white-gloved staff treat visitors to live concerts featuring different instruments! If you are lucky enough to catch one of these, it's a bonus!

The length of your visit will depend on how interested you are in the history of music, I think. Enjoy!‬

‪Ideally I would have given an extra half star. While I have only allocated 3 stars, it does house a lovely collection of instruments and a small but good gift shop in the foyer. The entry price is very reasonable and the museum is easily located from the station with good signage. There are two levels of instruments, and a self guided audio headsets are available for free to assist your visit. Unfortunately for me, it just is a little sterile and seems to lack some life. Perhaps an unfair criticism for a museum, but essentially it is just a lovely display. There is an excellent collection of electronic keyboards, but you cannot play any (understandable in a museum) but some demonstrations or an actual guided tour would be a valuable addition. Worth a visit and has great potential, but just misses the mark a little for me for what it could really be.‬

‪We visited this museum on our recent trip to Hamamatsu and it was wonderful! They have musical instruments from all over the world. We were able to see instruments that we have never seen and I was surprised at how big some of them were and it was really an interesting experience. They have head phones available so you can listen how the instruments sound. I think you can rent a self guided tour tape, but I'm exactly sure. The ladies working there were very welcoming. You can take photos and video. It is very easy to get there from the train station. In some cases your hotel may have a voucher or coupon for a discount towards the entrance fee to see this museum. I recommend you set aside at least two hours. We spent nearly three hours in there. They also have a gift shop with all things related to music. We loved it!‬

‪Excellent on a rainy day and also kids friendly. Being the home town of Yamaha and Kawai, besides the various instruments from all over the whole, it has a comprehensive collection on the piano history. You can study the evolution of the piano in detail and even try some mechanics. ‬

When I just entered, I felt I have entered "Wrong place" since there were many unimpressed Asian instruments. But, there are huge collection of old European pianos in the basement floor. I was so much impressed.
You cannot touch them but can take photos.
I could touch the worm heart of the City of Hamamatsu to the musical instruments.‬

‪We were in town for a weekend and noticed that we had not been to this attraction before. Being close to Act Tower, it was really easy to get to. When inside, we were treated to a history of how music is and was made around the world. It will only take you about an hour, but the collection is cool and extensive.‬
