‪Large Indian buddha‬
ספט׳ 2019
‪This place has a lot of Buddhas, also Buddhas from other countries, this one is from India and has a good size. It is made of metal and is not of stone like most of the Buddhas are in this place.‬

‪On the way to giant buddha‬

‪As you enter from North entrance, you will see sleeping Buddha. Not a great or exciting view but is interesting. I would not make a special trip to see sleeping Buddha but if you are entering from North entrance it is right at the river bridge. Easy to miss if you are not looking for it.‬

‪Imagination‬

‪When you visit the sandstone statue of the largest Buddha in the world the guides will tell you that the island on which Buddha is carved looks like a Buddha sleeping on his back.

I will leave that bit to your imagination.

The sitting Buddha should not be missed‬

‪Beautiful when you see it‬

‪The giant sleeping Buddha is best viewed from the oriental Buddha capital. I couldn't see it from the boat and I cannot imagine being able to see it from any other place.

The Buddha is lying on his side, his face starts from the left side and his body is stretched out towards the right side. You do not need a wild imagination, you just need to focus and concentrate. ‬

‪stretching the imagination‬

‪Some people see animals in cloud formations but you really need a big imagination. Even if you can tell yourself what it is it is not much of a tourist site. If you didn't see it when you were going to the giant Buddha and spent time and money to see it you would be pretty upset‬

‪Giant Sleeping Buddha‬
חברים • יוני 2015
‪From a certain angle, the sleeping buddha can be seen. It is in a lying position. From left tomright you can see: the head, neck, chest, male organ and leg. It is also interesting to note that the Le Shan Giant Buddha is located at the 'heart' of the sleeping buddha. This has the meaning of : Buddha in the heart. The local built a nice shelter across the river to view the sleeping buddha. This can be seen on the cruise to see the Le Shan Giant Buddha.‬

‪need wild imagination‬
משפחה • ספט׳ 2014
‪This is not statue nor stone craving of sleeping buddha.

Just the outlook of few mountains , island linked together.
one need to have a artistic imagination to "see" the sleeping shape of buddha.

This is to view from the boat ride.‬

‪We took the bus from Chengdu (turn up at Xinnanmen Bus Station, buy a ticket get on the next available bus, free (i.e. grab the best seat you can) seating. 47 Yuan each). Once we got to Leshan, we took a minibus to Leshan Giant Buddha (5 Yuan each, they were just waiting for the bus to turn up). This dropped us at the East Gate Tourist Centre. Note that if you go through this entrance you'll be buying tickets to the Buddha Complex (80 Yuan) AND the Giant Buddha (90 Yuan). If you just want to go to the Big Buddha, you have to use the entrance near the river.

The Buddha complex is worth is just for the printed advice given in the mens toilets by the east gate entrance. Go on, it will make your day. Great saunter up through the lying buddha, the caves and to the temple at the top before starting the descent out towards the Giant Buddha.

There were no lines by the time we made it there (around 2pm), and we were able to leisurely make our way down the cliffside, taking as many photo's as we wanted, and stopping all the time, then climb back up again. We left via the West Exit, which then takes you through a series of "restaurants" and by the tombs and then you have to run the gauntlet of the trike vendors wanting to take you back to the East Gate because it is "long, long way" but they will only charge you 10 yuan. You can walk back in 15 minutes even if you go slow, just follow the track until you get to the road, turn left and you'll be back at the East Gate Tourist Centre entrance in no time, or round about 15 minutes anyways.

If you're going back to Leshan, buses trawl this road. If you're going to Emei, then there's a little cafe just past the East Gate entrance, that has Chengdu and Baogousi above it's door (in big writing), we found a minibus from here that was going directly to Baogousi (i.e. the bus station at Baoguo Temple) for 20 Yuan each.

Both the Buddha complex and the Giant Buddha are worth going to. If you're short on time, just visit the Giant Buddha, go early or later to avoid the lines, but be aware of the hefty costs if you're visiting both. Oh and don't forget the mens toilets..‬
