Hidden coves
אפר׳ 2021
Went from boat drop off at playa San Josecito back toward Drake bay. One beach after another, most empty or just a few other humans soaking up the sun and lovely blue water. We loved poking through the tidal pools, lots of critters, and a troop of capuchin.

Awesome hike
לבד • ינו׳ 2021
People say this hike takes about 2,5 - 3 hours per direction. If you take in the beautiful nature along the way, I agree. For me it was getting dark on the way back so I didn't really take my time, but still didn't hurry. It took me only about two hours. But the reason I was running late was because on my way to the last beach I stopped so many times and enjoyed my surroundings! Monkeys, birds, trees, palm trees and one beach more beautiful than the other. Once I had passed the first bit where still some accommodations are, I hardly met any other person. This might be due to the decline in tourism during Covid.
All together an awesome and also cheap way to enjoy the nature of coastal Costa Rica. If you are fit enough, take the time to enjoy this hike!

Just go to Cocalito
זוגות • ינו׳ 2021
I did the entire 20km from Drake Pura Vida hostel to San Jocito Beach and back.
PROs: free
CONs: in-and-out trail, not much to see, little animals (unlike Manuel Antonio), only one distance marker at the beginning, no stops/shops/toilets passed Cocalito Beach

A beach for couples...
זוגות • דצמ׳ 2020
We started the trail from Drake Bay and had intended to do the whole trail, however, when we arrived at the first beach: Playa Cocalito, we were struck with pure beauty and not another soul in slight. If you are a couple, looking for seclusion then I totally recommend this spot; we didn’t leave...

Go to the beach. Go left/south. You ate essentially on the trail.

Before you leave the main Bay you might see a fisherman using only a hook& line. Maybe buy so.e fish for dinner. Keep going. Birds, plants & EVENTUALLY a beautiful sunset await. Don't forget your headlamp

THE trail around
נוב׳ 2019
I recommend to go this trail. It is a very nice day-trip from Drake to the south and back. On one side the Pacific ocean and on the other side the dschungle

Nature walk, beautiful scenery
זוגות • ינו׳ 2020
Wonderful walk by the beaches and in the jungle. In the warm and humid climate it is exhausting. We made it a day activity and stoped several times to take a swim and cool down. If you only want to walk one way there is lot’s of boats that will take you out there or back.
We brought snorkeling gear, Playa San Josecito was great. You can swim out to the two small Island that form a calm bay.
Continue 10 min past Playa San Josecito to find a place that serves lunch and drinks.
We measured the walk from the bridge in Bahia Drake to Playa San Josecito to be 9km, elevation gain 200m.

Cool Rainforest Beach Hike
יולי 2019
Coastal beach rainforest hike on the outskirts of civilization. We could have used some more information about this hike so here it is. We did this entire trail as a family of 5, with kids as young as 8 and 10. Get an offline map app for your phone such as the perfect Maps.me to follow where you are and where the trail goes. There was a tropical downpour during the walk but we had cheap lightweight umbrellas and it was quite nice. An hour later it was sunny and warm.
It's basically a bunch of little coves, with a beach about every half mile. We ended up at the end of the 10 mile trail at the large beautiful sandy beach Playa San Josectio, but be warned, there is no boat back after 2pm. You either need to leave before 8am to make it in time or arrange with a boat ahead of time to be driven back which is a great trip. Sawyer Picaridin bug spray was a lifesaver since the local bugs love the lower legs.
The river crossing near the very end is a bit tricky, but the crossing point is on the beach at the point where the calmer water turns rapid. Look for someone to help.

Good hiking shoes suggested as trail often is muddy in parts. Rather well marked. Nice to walk on one's own. Several fine beaches some with fresh water showers. We ran into a monkey colony that took no notice of us.

We are headed to CR in a couple of weeks and spending some time in Osa. We’d love to hike this trail but don’t want to have to pack hiking shoes! Would boat shoes be ok?I understand it’ll probably be muddy in some areas but aside from that, is the trail so rough that we should have hiking shoes? Thank you!

You don't need hiking boots. Just was there in Mid Jan and wore everything from boat shoes, keens to regular gym shoes. Hiked it most every day for a week. Life Is Good
