‪Junction breakwater trail‬

‪This is my favorite walk with nature. You experience flocks of snow geese, woodpeckers, squirrels, deer, fox, turtles and frogs while enjoying a walk on a well maintained trail. Don't want to walk. Then ride your bicycle. The trail joins two lovely beaches towns and you don't have to be on the highway.‬

‪This is a great trail for bili ng por walking. But if you bike it the best thing to do is make a loop by connecting with the Henlopen Park Gordons Trail Path.‬

‪Great trail connecting Rehoboth and Lewes‬
ספט׳ 2019
‪I wanted to ride from Bethany to Lewes without going on route 1. This trail was not only off the beaten path, it was scenic and easy to navigate. We went through Gordons pond state park and cape henlopen state park on the way out to Lewes.‬

‪Beautiful walk on a cloudy day‬

‪We walked for about 2 miles towards Lewes beach from the Tangler outlets, so we cannot speak for the whole trail but the part we saw was amazing. The trail is wide enough for walkers and bicyclists not to get in each other's way, it's pretty flat and covered with gravel - very easy to walk on. The nature around is absolutely beautiful. This was definitely one of best trails in the state! ‬

‪Great trail for biking!‬

‪Bring cold water with you. It’s a great trail for riding from Lewes to Rehoboth. There are lots of nice shady spots along the way. Maybe bring a can of bug spray, just in case the bugs are out that day. ‬

‪Smooth and long ride‬
יולי 2019 • זוגות
‪We started in Rehoboth and rode to Lewes. We parked at Wolf Neck’s road. You pay for parking by putting money in the box. We brought our own bikes but you can rent on the trail at Lewes.

There are parts of the trail in the shade but most is not shaded. You ride through some woods and through beautiful housing development. All of the ride is off the roadway until you get to Lewes. The final half mile you do have to ride with traffic. The trail is paved for large portions and smooth dirt/gravel on other sections. The vast majority is completely flat. I easy for anyone to ride and completely safe.

Others do walk and jog portions of the course. ‬

‪Great Ride on the Trail‬
יוני 2019 • משפחה
‪This trail is the perfect ride from Lewes to Rehoboth. You get to avoid the main roads altogether but get to Rehoboth from Downtown Lewes quickly.
The trail is a good combination of paved trail and fine gravel that is easy to ride on. Much of the trail goes through wetland areas, but you do also have to go through some residential areas (however, there is a dedicated path through the neighborhood).
Overall, the Breakwater and Junction Trail makes for a great day of biking!‬

‪Great ride‬

‪BIKE RENTAL: We rented two bikes at Atlantic Cycles (1 Virginia Avenue) which is located on the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach and has a 2nd rental shop along the bike route in Lewes. The cost was $16 each (approximately 1/2 day-7am to 5pm. ). The rental included helmet, lock, bell and basket ( if you'd like-although not many of these were available at the time we rented). They also provided a free map of the trail which was helpful. I would recommend renting a bike with gears (ours had 3) as it was useful on a handful of sections. One of my biggest pet peeves about bike riding are the uncomfortably small seats. The seats were a standard size (wider than those used by avid cyclists) and were gelled which made for a better ride. Although I wished they offered larger seat cushions, the discomfort after about an hour was completely bearable. The service was great. My seat was adjusted to my liking and they walked us through the map and indicated points of interest.
WEATHER: this is purely preference I guess but we rented during the Memorial day weekend and decided to rent the bikes on the least hottest day (low 62 and high 85). We have done other trails where we have been completely miserable because of the unbearable heat and humidity. We left around 9am and were back by 1:30). Although it was a warm day there was a nice breeze and plenty of shade along the route which made it a very enjoyable ride.
THE TRAIL: Although most of the trail was flat, there were some sections that were slightly elevated. It is about a 15 to 18 mile loop. There were about 2 or 3 intersections that were not clearly marked but they do have a few maps along the way which indicate your location along the trail and we stopped to ask a couple of times to make certain we were on the right path. We began to pay closer attention not only to the trail markers along the way but some of the other signs we saw as some of the names of the different campsites and points of interest were located on the map we got from the bike shop. My husband and I do not lead an active life style. I would say we are somewhere between average to below average in terms of activity and we were able to complete the entire loop comfortably with a handful of very brief stops. It was a beautiful trail with various topography which included beach, open marshes and dense wooded areas. It took us about 1.5 hours to get to Lewes and another 1.5 to get back to Rehoboth going at a brisk pace. We stopped at Lewes for about an hour to get some coffee and visit some of the local shops.
It's also worth mentioning that you can only bike on the Rehoboth boardwalk from sunrise to 10am. We walked the entire boardwalk from end to end so on bike it may take about 15 minutes or less to ride the whole strip and it would be a nice way to start your day before heading to the trail since it is along the same route.‬
