‪We stopped on the way to Shete Boka Park and it was a good place to stretch the legs. Very barren landscape, so desert like. We did see some flamingos napping in the way distance, which was cool, but not spectacular. Not worth an out of the way stop, by take a few minutes to stop on the way to another destination.‬

‪Well no birds is very disappointing! If there had not been an older local lady across the road to guide us we would not have seen any birds. The birds leave during mating times to go to another spot... this lady directed us, and we found an entire colony of flamingos!!!!‬

‪I’m glad we were on an Atlantis Tour of Curaçao because I never would have found this place myself. Basically a stop along the highway with minimal signs. The day we arrived the Flamingos were eating their fill of Brine Shrimp. Our guide told us Flamingos are born a gray color but due to eating brine shrimp and blue-green algae they turn pink. I recommend a visit if you can find it!‬

‪We stopped here mid-morning. It is a nice walk amongst the mangrove and wetland habitat. Lots of jellyfish in the shallows and a few other birds, but no flamingos. Nice area to visit, but an hour or less is all that is required. ‬

‪First time I got to see wild flamingo's. We happened on this place by chance and pulled over on the side of the road to get out and walk along the water to watch the birds. If you have a good camera with zoom, bring it! My phone couldn't get a good close up shot of the birds. Really cool experience if you're in the area.‬

‪There are no flamingo's. Not one. Do not know for what reason, but none at St. Willibrodus in January/February 2020.

‪We stopped by here mid afternoon, which as we found out later was not the best time to see the flamingos. Apparently going in the early to mid morning or close to sunset will increase your chances of seeing more of them. We only saw 5 and they were not that close. We had binoculars which helped, but it wasn't a great photo op unless you have a good camera with telephoto capabilities.

Someone at this site, however, told us there is another salt flat area near Kokomo Beach that also attracts flamingos. We stopped by there and saw a lot more, a few up pretty close. Take the turnoff (watch for road sign) for Kokomo and you will run into this area. We were the only ones at the Kokomo area site. My guess is that there can be a lot at either site, but you can get skunked too. Either way, it is best to have binoculars.‬

‪We stayed nearby . Therefore, we passed by the Flamingo Sanctuary several times during our stay in Curaçao.

Flamingos are beautiful. Parking by the roadside is relatively easy and straightforward.

I’m not sure if it’s worth it to take a big detour/trip to visit the Flamingo Sanctuary. However, in my opinion, is a nice sight if you’re in the area.‬

‪Nice road stop. Birds are far enough away that they are not easily ruffled by lots of tourists taking pictures. It is quite hot on the flats so take a hat and maybe water. It is maybe a 20 min stop.‬

‪We stopped twice while driving to see the pink flamingos. It looked like at one point they had a small restaurant or drink shop but both times we stopped it was closed. The flamingos were still very beautiful. Just careful, it is quite muddy on the shore where you stand and we did see several small jelly fish in the water. There is also a Tula monument which are scattered all over the island. ‬
