Tre manifique! Built in the 15th century, this gem of a castle is still privately owned and occupied. Located in the middle of almost nowhere, viewing this castle is like going back in time to live among the feudal land owner, knights, serf and peasants. There is no information regarding when the castle is open, but apparently not very often.

It is rarely open but park outside and enjoy the view and walk over the bridge and watch the fish jumping in the lake.

The Chateau is only open to the public for a very limited number of days in the year, so do not expect a tour of the building.
However, it is an a magnificent setting, and is largely unspoiled by any modern works.
The lake has fish and coypu, although you will have to be lucky to see them.
The sun sets over the chateau in summer, so is an ideal opportunity to grab some great pictures during a days excursion to any of the surrounding attractions.
It is not too far off the main road into Campeneac, and there is a footpath over the hill from another attraction, L'Arbre D'Or if you felt energetic enough to see both.
It would be easy to visit the Chateau if you were on a cycling holiday without exhausting yourself.
Paimpont is the next destination along the road to Trecesson from Campeneac.

A beautiful little château, nestled in pretty countryside beneath a lovely oak wood. Just stopping to take a picture is uncomplicated and rewarding, and if you have a few spare euro and can understand French it's a fascinating little spot to take a look around. The family still lives in the castle, so you can't go inside, but it's terrifically atmospheric and well worth the visit.
