‪Breathtaking view of the Duratón River Gorge from the hermitage church of "San Frutos", who happens to be the patron saint of the city of Segovia. Binoculars are essential to see the voltures nesting on many cracks or small cavities on the canyon slopes.‬

‪Absolutely beautiful view and the little church is awesome to explore! Great place to spend a few hours out of the city! Many small towns nearby (including Sepulveda) to go and get lunch afterward! Highly recommended for the nature-lovers and view-seakers!‬

‪Medieval Ermita In Sensational Natural Setting‬

‪My Castilian Father in Law took me here on a surprise visit following a day out exploring a number of castles south-east from Valladolid. It was the perfect climax to some magnificent sight seeing. You will need your own transport to get here and park your car on on the Calle Iglesia leading out from Sepulveda. From there you need to take a small walk to the Ermita itself which is located in Duraton National Park. It's pretty rugged and I should say that a visit here for anyone with mobility issues would be problematic to impossible.

The location of the Ermita could not be more dramatic. It is positioned on top of a huge gorge at the point of a sharp bend in the river. The views from here and also from before you arrive to the Ermita have to be seen to be believed and it has been described by some as a mini Grand Canyon. The Ermita itself is built in delightful Romanesque but it is the location which transforms it into something special. Looking toward the Ermita from the gorge opposite you will see a great number of enormous Griffon vultures gliding above you and, incredibly, below you.

I would strongly recommend anyone within one hour's driving distance from Sepulveda to make a detour and visit this site. It is absolutely stunning and guaranteed too exceed all expectation.‬
