‪My third visit. Extremely pleasant outdoor space. $5 admission for seniors and students. Photography encouraged. If you like contemporary sculpture, run.‬

‪Noguchi is iconic and now, for me, so is his museum. Really worth a trip. The open air parts coupled with the sculpture garden and gift shop make it truly unique. Then walk out the door to the Socrates Sculpture park and you're good to go.‬

‪not friendly for people of color. if you don’t want people to pose with the exhibits, then don’t allow photography all together - not sure why me and my friend were met with such hostility. i was really looking forward to visiting this museum but my experience was so uncomfortable i doubt i’ll be visiting any museum anytime soon.‬

‪Serene During Covid-19‬
אוק׳ 2020
‪I have wanted to visit the Noguchi Museum for several years. I finally did, when the museum reopened during the covid-19 pandemic. I purchased tickets online, two weeks in advance, for a Friday morning time slot.

At the entrance, I forgot to ask if there was a guided tour of the museum; most likely tours were not available due to the pandemic. The gift shop and café were closed. Social distancing and wearing masks were required.

The museum has a superb collection of Noguchi’s vast work. For me, the highlight was the serene sculpture garden. The perfect place to sit, while watching the sunlight and shadows on the sculptures.

If driving: I parked in Costco’s parking lot because I planned to shop after the museum. Although parking is difficult in Long Island City, I noticed two parking spaces when I arrived. Read the street signs to avoid getting a ticket.

If you haven’t already: Watch the (2010) film Leonie. The story of Leonie Gilmour, Isamu Noguchi’s mother. The movie may not be 100% accurate, but it offers insight into Isamu Noguchi’s childhood, and the relationship between his American mother, Leonie Gilmour and his Japanese father, Yone Noguchi.‬

‪I am glad I visited this place. It is a very arty and at an off beaten path location. It takes about one hour to take in everything. This is a place worth checking out but not on the same tier as MOMA. It's one of those I have already checked everything else, so lets check this place out kind of a deal. Worthwhile nonetheless.‬

‪Wait for Spring‬
נוב׳ 2019
‪We visited this museum in mid november and it is to be found well off the beaten track so allow time to get there, and back. I recommend the metro and walking the last half mile to the museum passing also an interesting small riverside park with sculptures. The Noguchi is on two floors and has a garden display area. The garden displays of his sculpture were disappointingly mostly covered to prevent frost damage so I suggest a return in Spring when the tree and plant leaves will be opening up and the landscape look its best. There is a small entry fee and you can have a guide if you so wish. We didn't but asked questions of the staff when we felt we needed further explanations. They were pleased to help. There are on display a number of his well known works and how he formed or assembled them. It is a relatively small and intimate museum and well worth the effort to visit.‬

‪This is a well curated and presented collection of work of the American Japanese sculptor Isamu Noguchi. There is also an outdoors section which we hurried through due to the rain and one bright red piece on which visitors can sit. The cafe - shop is also very good too. It’s in a fairly industrial area but about a 15-20 minute walk from the train and restaurants of Astoria. Well worth the visit!‬

‪Tucked into a warehouse-type area is a hidden oasis of tranquility that is worth the trip. The large, natural material sculptures are displayed in a open, beautiful, environment inside and outside. We did not know of the artist beforehand, but found that we wanted to learn more about his projects after visiting. I definitely recommend this place!‬

‪I have to admit, I don't know much about Isamu Noguchi. That being said, I was told about the Noguchi Museum and decided to pay it a visit. I found the ambiance of the entire museum to be incredibly tranquil, and it made for a solemn and spiritual visit. If you are in the area and have the time, I recommend a visit.‬
