Visited here on a rainy day and it kept the young children happy for hours! I would imagine it would be even better if we could have walked around the lovely grounds. Nice little cafe and for a small price, the children can do a variety of crafts

Visited on 18/8/2023. This was our 2nd time. Exhibition is good and the kids loved the chimney sweep experience. Disappointed that they have a upside down poster of the Bay City Rollers in the bedroom display especially as one has been convicted of downloading child pornogry. The whole band is tarnished with grooming and being pimped out. Even the manager has been imprisoned for sexual offences. I feel there are better pop stars who could fit the bill.
I score the visit low as the cafe is like Fred carnos cicus. Absolutely no organisation leading to long queses. The tills need to be permanently manned and others do the prep of drinks ect. Go and have a look at Attingham park if you need a model. Why oh why do you not have a shop aimed at children. Our grand kids had money burning holes in their pockets and nowhere to spend it! On a positive end the house room guides were great and very knowledgeable and approachable.
5/10 could do better.

National Trust - The Children's Country House at Sudbury
After being closed for almost 2 years during COVID (when other properties managed to open ), we were disappointed that they have diminished Sudbury Hall to an entertainment centre for toddlers.
We are now forced to book 1/2 time slots even for a stroll in the gardens or to use the Cafe. The additional cost is not proportionate to any added value (there is none). You cannot use NT Gift vouchers because your have to book online.
The Toy museum has few additional items in it despite the amount of collections held in the attic of Sudbury hall itself.
The Pink neon sign and Disco Balls frankly look ridiculous in a Regency Ballroom. Swapping out Mr Darcy's writing desk for Kids furniture, an absolute Tragedy.
Most of the new younger staff could not answer simple questions on the History of the Hall , all books of information formerly at the hall are no longer available. Leaflets given for you to read were taken back off you.
Other than the School classroom experience, the rooms did not have staff available to help children interact with or explore their surroundings.
The ladies toilet were unclean when we visited with toilet paper on floor and dirty sinks.
I also thought that turning over almost 1/3 of the car park to Disabled spots a tad over the top and not allocating any Parents with Prams at all was a complete oversight for a Museum of childhood.
Gone are the environmentally and well understood Prickly seed pods to let people know NOT to sit here or an item is delicate. We now have Plastic Hedgehogs spoiling any photographs that need a five minute explanation as to why they are there.
I certainly was not impressed to watch swirling images on the Hall ceiling of other ceilings before being allowed to walk through and yet the staff member could not name the artist of the plaster work images being shown.
You have lost sight of what the National Trust is about while focusing your changes on a minority group of customer. Removing objects from display, because you want to remove the boundary ropes for the children???? I have a hard time comprehending any of the changes made.

Cafe please don't sell dried out old scones!! After a short visit to the grounds we stopped for the obligatory tea and scone.
To summarize...the scone was probably from the day before as it was early on a Saturday and it was stone cold plus very dry/crumbly...and the butter was a hard as rock :-( what a disappointment!

Visited with my young daughter. She absolutely loved the place, so much for her to do.
She even commented on how great it was and it wasn’t just another boring house 😂
Activity centre, games, interactive staff, nice cafe and drinks. Large car park.
Enjoyed the fact that you have to approach the closed car park gates at the end of the day in your car, for them to then open towards your car. Quick reverse out the way then dive for the exit 😂
Great way to spend the afternoon.

No longer just a Museum of Childhood. The whole Hall has been revamped to help children learn about country houses, with lots of things to interact with inside. Really interesting, even if you are not a child.
Staff and volunteers were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Good cafe: smallish but with lots of outdoor seating.

Went today and realised this is lovely place but mainly for children. We knew the museum was a children's museum but thought the house would have nice furniture in etc but alas hardly any at all. Again it is more suited to children.
Worth going though just to see the amazing staircase and hallway. Lots of children there today so little difficult to get round. No lift in main house only museum and long walk from car park if you have mobility problems but there is a buggy that goes back and forth.
No NT shop there now but nice cafe long queues today.

It s an amazing experience that makes you feel like you're traveling around the world in 80 days !
Traveling by hot air balloon over unique natural beauties makes you feel different. In addition to these, beautiful services make you enjoy every moment on the tour.

So there is a long path from car park to museum including crossing a (non-busy) road. Free parking.
The museum was ok, a little boring.
The court yard was pleasent, including a craft zone (£2 each) this looked great for children and adults alike!
The staff were generally OK, helpful to arrange a golf type buggy back to the car.
It was overall ok and has lovely grounds to explore but I won't be in a hurry to go back until the hall is actually open.

We booked ahead & had said we needed help with access on the booking form. It said someone would phone to discuss this but no one ever did.
The car park is a walk from the museum. There was a number to call for help but it was flat so my husband pushed the wheelchair.
Very friendly staff on arrival. The museum is very wheelchair friendly with a lift to every floor.
The museum itself was very good although I found it odd the way some things were laid out - for instance a bright pink plastic barbie car in the middle of a lovely set of old wooden toys. My husband was disappointed there were no old Lego sets. But that’s just our opinions & the museum was very good & brought back some lovely memories.
The restaurant was disappointing for National trust. Wasps all over the tongs by the food & no dairy free / vegan spread.

I would like to bring a group of 9 English pupils and 13 French pupils who are working together on a project about life of children in Victorian times compared to the one nowadays. Do you have guides who speak French? Can we experience life at school there and how much extra does it cost?
