‪This is the sort of place that you will enjoy if you're prepared to take your time and just allow yourself to feast on the details that are on display. We spent a good hour inside the museum fascinated by the wealth of interesting exhibits. Also worth noting the beautiful gardens that are across the courtyard. An interesting 'time-capsule' experience... and no, it's not an all singing/dancing modern museum with interactive gizmos and hi-tech special effects, it's a small, regional museum that exhibits exactly what it claims to do in it's information. A great setting for a genuinely informative and relaxing afternoon... and the two chaps who were there when we visited were both charming and informative. Highly recommend this for an afternoon visit.‬

‪We visited this attraction with my mum who certainly enjoyed it as it reminded her some memories. I have read the negative comments from others and I am not surprised because if you are not a French speaker / francophone cultured then you won't get it. But saying that it is rubbish is not true. If you immerse yourself into a different culture you may not really get everything as you ve not lived it, it would be the same for a Francophone to visit a museum about Oxo old boxes in the UK etc. I am sure you get my gist. The only thing I could say is that it is reminiscent for francophones. It was a pleasurable visit which did not last too long and well done to this private museum. As you are there you can walk around the garden full of roses and smell these lovely scents. ‬

‪This French 'musee' is about the past commercial life of the town it's in and there are some interesting bits, like how many different individual trades were recorded in the town in the 1950's

Some of the displays were good like the wigmakers showing how they were made and in the hat workshop there is a great collection of wax and wooden heads used to display them on (having watched 'Salvage Hunter' Drew Pritchard on TV I know what they are worth commercially....)

However overall the place is dull when compared to the likes of Beamish Living Museum in Durham.‬

‪A bit dull!‬

‪Visited as a family of six aged 9-72. A small museum that can be walked through in about half an hour. Exhibits organised into different shops, the pharmacy section was most interesting as you could go into the area, all other shops were behind glass and not overly exciting.
A talk from the French guide took a lot of listening to as they spoke no English, this was fine as with our own knowledge of French and the exhibits she was holding up we just about followed.
The plaza for a drink is just a coffee machine or orange juice for the kids.
Not much going on and the kids were a bit bored, we expected something more interactive.

‪The idea of recreating the shops is good but unfortunately everything is rather crammed in and only basic information is given about each shop. It is however a good example of how the shops used to be in the area,‬

‪Full of items going back decades but you will probably remember quite a few of them. We were in a rush so could not do the museum justice but an effusive and, apparently, very funny lady gave a talk, in French only, about some of the items in the collection.
You need a couple of hours to wander back to your childhood here!‬

‪This was well done with a vast collection of old interesting things, all seperated into "shops" - cobblers, hatter, bookshop, grocer. I think it is probably of more interest to adults than children as there's nothing to interact with and a large part of the enjoyment is seeing things you remember from years past. You have to pass through the shop on the way out. In the shop you can buy hot and cold drinks and a sitting-out area. We were loaned a book with descriptions in English but most of it was self-explanatory.‬
