Worthy to spend the day there, characteristic island. Bring your umbrella, it is almost impossible to get some shed otherwise. Also, bring food and plenty of water with you. The journey to get to Lavezzi island was worth the trip to be honest. Amazing.

Such a great quiet spot. Turquoise sea and white sandy beach. A few pleasure craft in the bay but not overly busy.

Nice boattrip with sightseeing near Bonifacio. Many nice beaches with clear water for snorkling. Quite a lot of people. Don't gorget to take food and drinks with you.

Very nice activity for a relaxing day that can end with a nice visit of Bonifacio by sea. You need to bring umbrella and a lot of water because no way to buy anything there. Take a picnic and a plastic bag for your waste. Crystal water

So happy we took the Société des promenades en mer de Bonifacio (SPMB) to see the southern coastline of Bonifacio Corsica, Lavezzi Island, Cavello Island, and the Gulf of Sperone. You buy the tickets at the port where the ship embarks, I was unable to buy them in advance. The office opened at 9 or 9:30. It starts off with a 30 minute boat ride to Lavezzi island where you disembark and walk to one of the many beautiful beaches! The rock formations are amazing on the Island and the water is clear and blue.
When we visited on Friday October 4, it wasn't crowded, we took the 11:30 ferry, the ferries start at 10:30 in Fall and run every hour to Lavezzi Island. Then the afternoon ferries return at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30. There are no toilets or food options on the island so be sure to get food and use WC before heading over to the island. There are toilets and groceries available close to the ferry departure point so its easy to stock up on food to take over.
There are so many beaches on the island you can walk around and find your favorite one. Some of them have shells, some are rocky, and some have fine sand. The island is large enough that you can find your own nook by walking father away from others. There are markers on the island to help you find your way around.
The fish swim right up to you when you put your feet in the water. Or you can bring snorkel gear and see a greater variety. We put a few crumbs in the water and they swarmed around us.
The water was warm and comfortable for snorkeling but It was windy. If visiting in the fall be sure to find a sheltered cove so you don't feel cold with the wind. The air temperature was in the 70's but with the wind it was a bit cool. One beach on the opposite end had a shelter hut built from sticks.
When you board the boat headed back to Bonifacio it takes an hour to get back, they take you on a tour around Cavello Island and tell you in French about the celebrities who own the expensive homes built there. Also they show you a grotto where the whole boat goes into a small hole in the cliff. I couldn't believe the boat would fit in but it did!
They travel along the south side of Corsica and show you lots of interesting things like the 187 Stairs of Aragon at a 45 degree angle carved into the stone, the WW2 lookout point in the middle of the limestone cliff, Napoleon's Hat and more. The white limestone cliffs are breathtaking and you get to see how the Citadel is built right on top of the cliff just perched on the edge!
On the ferry ride home if you choose a seat at the front of the boat, out in the sun, the ocean water will spray on you and you will get wet. If it is cloudy, you may not want to get wet. The boat goes up and down over choppy water so you may not like all the motion. We noticed during our three day stay that the clouds often rolled in around 2:30 pm and that immediately made the weather a little cool.
There are two boat tours offered by the SPMB, Circuit 1 and Circuit 2. Circuit 1 costs about 18 Euros for adults/less for kids, and shows you the southern side of the Bonifacio cliffs. The second tour Circuit 2 takes you to Lavezzi Island where you disembark and enjoy the island. Circuit 2 is 35 Euros for Adults and less for children. Circuit 1 leaves every half hour, Circuit 2 every hour.

The beaches were beautiful, but if you come in August, just be prepared for major crowds. We were told that it is much better in Sept.
