‪Strandja is actually not just a mountain, but a huge nature park. It is so vast, that you only can see a glimpse of it on a one day trip. We did a day trip to the park from Burgas. First off, you need a car and preferably a SUV because of the bumpy roads. The road (9, E87) from Burgas from Malko Tarnovo is good. We came back through the Gramatikovo-Tsarevo-Sozopol route (road 99). The worst section of the road was from Malko Tarnovo to Gramatikovo. From there to Tsarevo it was a bit better. Even if you are not into geocaching, I suggest that you should create an account and look for some geocaches. The coordinates to caches will lead you to many interesting places. For example the waterfall north of Malko Tarnovo, in Stoilovo. We also visited the Thracian tombs west from Malko Tarnovo. The highlight was climbing up to Golyamo Gradishte peak (710 m), which is the highest peak in Strandja and offers amazing views. On the way to the peak you'll see also some interesting caves. Mishkova Niva is something worth to see also, and a new, good road leads right to the ruins. We also visited some small villages like Brahslyan. The all-but abandoned village of Slivarovo would also have been interesting, but we didn't have the courage to drive there because of the very poor road. A great way to spend a day, or even a couple. But do remember to take your passport with you. The Border Police pulled us over and wanted to see our passports. But they were really polite and spoke good English.‬

‪Stranja Mountains is a tourist attraction pretty rarely visited by tourists. I think hiking in Stranja Mountains may be very atractive but I strongly recommend hiring a guide. You can find guide phone numbers on the National Park website. The trails are poorly marked and it's easy to get lost walking alone without a guide. I was hiking on a trail that starts about 200 m behind the waterfall Dozupak and found it was interesting.‬

‪Not the highest of the Bulgarian mountains, but the scenery makes up for it. Forests are thick and full of colour. Plenty of wildlife and I would say a place not to be missed. You need a car rental to explore the Strandja mountains. ‬

‪Strandja is really a remarkable mountain, though it is not high. Ситуатед ин southeastern Bulgaria, иt is very little known for tourists, and the roads and tourist paths are undeveloped yet. Yet there are many natural jewels here. In many of the abandoned villages, there is a unique mystique and as if the story whispers something mysterious to the visitor. It is worth visiting Burgas, a city with good infrastructure and a starting point to the surroundings. There is an airport there. The archaeological museum, is small, but well organized and you should visit also the City Gallery, or the Opera house. The Sea Garden at Burgas and the surrounding streets are quite beautiful also. From here by bus you can reach many of the villages like Debelt, Sredets, Malko Tarnovo, where you can find many archeological and natural sites, Thracian tombs-dolmens. The region is very rich in history, although it is quite deserted. Here many ancient Thracian sanctuaries are situated. Quite astonishing is the so-called Markov Kamak nearby the village of Dolno Yabalkovo. There are also some medieval fortresses like the one in Deultum-Debelt and Sredets. Debelt has a very well organized museum and archaeological site worth visiting. The Strandzha National park is still not very developed, but it has a lot of potential. The diversified flora and fauna is unique within the Balkans, due to the location of the mountain on bio-geographical crossroad between the European and Asian continents. ‬

‪Not a high mountain, but covered with green forests, and with traces of ancient culture. Famous for festival of Firedancers (Nestinarka).‬

‪Strandja Mountain is one of the most interesting mountains in Europe. In order to "feel" it and fully understand where you really are, you should firstly read about it's history which is vast and intriguing. Starting from the legend of the Egyptian Cat-Goddess, to the Nestinarstvo (Feuer-Springen/Tanzen) it makes it evident, that Strandja is a magical place. Although the infrastructure is not so well maintained, go by a car-better by a SUV and you will enjoy it. Go hiking through the mystical forests, try to reach Sliwarowo(sorry for the German spelling) where there is a legend, but I will not share it with you. Better read it by yourself in order to get curious about it.
Definetly worth for a visit‬
