‪A very impressive visit‬

‪We travelled to Ostuni 2 weeks ago. Walking down the narrow white streets we came across a small workshop which we didn't know anything about but it was an impressive experience.
L'Ulivo che canta - a small workshop of wooden objects is a unforgettable place where one can find the most interesting forms and objects of wood, and where the owner, mister Tonino is a very warm person willing to tell the tourists about his work, about his passion. I was very impressed by the fact that most of his works were not for sale, but for watching, because he was very attached to them; it was mostly a gallery of beautiful works made both by nature and by man. An our second visit mister Tonino made us a beautiful present which was my dearest memory of the city of Ostuni...a gesture of a warm and kind person whose joy consists in sharing his passion with others...his place is a must to visit in Ostuni.
Thank you, mister Tonino!!‬

‪Tonino, what a Gent!‬

‪This was literally around the corner from our Trullo, we popped our heads through on the first day. What a place, such amazing work. My wife is pregnant and Tonino mentioned about some spoons that he had been making for children.
We admired the carvings and the sculptures and promised to return to purchase a spoon.
On our last day we were true to our word, but he refused to take any payment and instead gave us a most wonderful present which will be treasured for ever.
We would have bought one of the stunning sculptures but it's mainly a gallery and he's very attached to his pieces.

Thoroughly recommended to view his work and perhaps purchase some of his intricate jewellery.

Grazie Tonino, Sei molto gentile!‬

‪Hard to find but worth it‬

‪We were on a walking tour of Ostuni when we happened to walk past this little tiny shop. The owner had stepped outside briefly and, being the curious person I am, I poked my head in the door to see what his specialty was. Voila! He's an artist! He carves beautiful things out of olive wood, most of which he won't sell. I did purchase a slotted olive wood spoon but what I really wanted was one of the beautiful sculptures. He told us that he gets a gnarled piece of wood and starts carving with no intention of what it's to be. His pieces were extraordinary - especially the one with the Madonna in the grain of the wood. I'm not sure how he manages to exist on selling his spoons and kitchen household items when his sculptures were so magnificent. Worth 15 minutes if you are in the area.‬
