Lieutenant Gareth Webb Came to Juno Beach in DDay and when he returned, as an 80-year-old, he started a project to raise awareness of what thé Canadians had contributed during WW2. He wanted the guides to be young, as had been the Boys. At the end of the tour of the bunker (which was superb, and that we bought as a supplementary part of our ticket), our ‘young’ guide, Henri, about 20 and from Montréal, took us to the beach itself and said how proud he was to tell the Canadians’ story. Seeing him - a young Canadian man - on the beach was so very relevant, and poignant. Thank you!

If you thought you understood Canada and Canadian’s contribution to WW2 and D-Day, think again. I guarantee that a visit will educate, surprise and amaze. Comprehensive but easily digestible info boards and a great message. Make sure to include the optional bunker tour, well worth the time. Also spend time to investigate the other bunkers in the vicinity.

You don't have to be Canadian to appreciate this museum. It does a good job of making the war, and the experience relatable. It is much more modern than Omaha.

We went on the Museum and Bunker Tour. The Bunker Tour was worth the 45 min. Informed and well presented. The Museum needs help...lots of reading and self teaching.

Dear visitor, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the guided tour with one of our Canadian guides, but sorry to hear that the museum didn’t meet your expectations. The Juno Beach Centre is a not-for-profit museum run by a small team in France. It was founded by Canadian veterans and their family who wanted to create an interpretation center and not a “collection museum” to tell Canada’s role before, during and after the Second World War. The Juno Beach Centre’s permanent exhibit draws on photographs, documents, firsthand accounts, multimedia, maps, and artifacts to tell the story of the Canadians who volunteered for military service or mobilized at home to contribute to the war effort. For families and youth, there is a circuit that allows them to reflect on historic concepts addressed specifically to them.

The Juno Beach Centre is a must-do visit for all ages, if only to experience the brilliant short Canadian film. Whilst in the area you should visit the Pegasus Bridge Museum at Ranville famous for the D-Day airborne landing and also visit the Commonwealth War Cemeteries at Ranville (2,236 buried) and at Bayeux (4,144 buried).

The Juno beach visitor center stands just by the famous landing beach where the Canadian troops landed on D-day.
The center is modern in design explaining the history and importance of that historic day. Great monuments around it, as well many monument pillars with victims names inscribed - a very solemn and glorious place.

It’s a go if in area centre, nothing that isn’t in any of the other museums and a lot of stuff not related to the war but to Canadian life. They do a bunker tour but I was not waiting about for that. Beach is very little to show for what happened there.

Informative centre right on Juno Beach. Docents are young Canadian students passionate to share the history of Canada’s involvement in D-Day.
Be sure to take the Bunker tour.

Went with the family, and even with COVID 19 restrictions, it was still fun. Took the additional bunker tour, and we were very happy with it. Should be part of a complete Normandy tour ... each of the beaches.

Good tour of the area with lots of bunkers and outposts excavated and redone. The museum was OK - seemed like it was trying too hard to be inclusive and politically correct with a lot of exhibits that had nothing to do with D-Day. There are definitely better museums in Normandy. Go id you are in the area, but don't make a special trip there.

Ciao, scusa vedo solo ora. E' il museo più nuovo che abbia visitato in Normandia. Credo sia accessibile anche in sedia a rotelle. Inoltre ci lavorano tanti giovani canadesi molto disponibili. Sono certa che in caso di bisogno troverete l'aiuto necessario.

Planning a trip to Paris in October. It's only a short 2 1/2 days in Paris. I'd love to get to Juno Beach to show my respects and express my thanks. I def. don't want to rush the trip but time will be an issue. To get there and back from Paris and take in the sites how much time should I allocate? How much did it cost to rent a car? Tolls? etc.
Any help you could give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This can be done in one day but you will miss a lot. The drive is over 3 hours and you could see a lot in 4 to six hours. Plus you need time for lunch by the sea. It is unfortunate not to see the US and British beaches, but you can not do it all in half a day.
I have had good luck and lowest prices from Europcar rentals. Check out online!
If you have deep pockets hire a guide otherwise be sure to at least get a good guide book ahead of time.

We are on a Cruise docking at Le Havre on Sunday, April 30th - We want to tour Juno Beach and we're thinking of renting a car but they all seem to be closed on Sunday. Also Viator tours are very expensive for car & Guide. do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for your email and for your interest in the visiting the Juno Beach Centre.
If you are interested in a tour to the Juno Beach Centre and extending into the Juno sector including transportation, I suggest you inquire with one of the tour companies listed on our website (undering the headings Tourist Information -- guided tours of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy sites). Notably, Normandy Siteseeing Tours or ACSM as they can provide pick-ups from the cruise docks.
I hope this information has been helpful and I remain at your disposal should you require any additional information.

We will be coming to Caen via train mid morning. Wondering if our best bet to get to Juno Beach is a taxi? Is it easy to find a taxi, and will they be available for the return trip as well?

Not really Normandy is better by car, and usually there's rain in that area, lots to see in the area!

Thank you for your email and for your interest in the visiting the Juno Beach Centre and I apologize for my delay in replying (the email from Tripadvisor was missed by my colleagues during my vacation). As part of our regular offer here at the museum, our guided tours of Juno Park bunkers are in fact scheduled at 10h30, 11h30, 14h30 and 16h30 in English (from July 1st to August 31st).
To attend one of these tours, you simply need to arrive minimum 20 minutes before the tour in order to purchase your tickets at the boutique and have the time to get to the meeting point outside. Alternatively, you may come an hour and a half early and start with visiting the museum. For information on ticket prices, please consult this section of our website. Notably, the combined ticket for the museum and the guided tour of Juno Park is 11€ for adults and 9€ for 8-18 year olds. There is also a Family Pass rate including the museum and the bunker visit at 33€ for up to 3 children and 2 adults.
If you are interested in a tour extending inland into the Juno sector including transportation, I suggest you inquire with one of the tour companies listed on our website (undering the headings Tourist Information -- guided tours of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy sites.
I hope this information has been helpful and I remain at your disposal should you require any additional information.
